Evo X sells 315 units in June...Mitsu down 42.4%
Here is something to think about Evo is/was always a limited production car and
wants it as a halo car. I have owned two Ford SVT vehicles one was out of a total production run of 1697 (04 Focus SVT) and the other was one of around 2500 (99 Contour SVT). My S2000 is one of around 10,000 (worldwide)they have built since late 99 so do the math even using 315 Evo's that's 3780 in the US alone.
Being down 42% overall is
If you look back into the history of the EVO it was conceived as a way to meet the requirements of racing and I am sure
would like to sell lot's but for a limited production car it is generating lot's of buzz which will bring people into the showroom
I have no doubt that your area is much larger. But also consider that I live in a neighboring city of Jacksonville, NC. Which is where Camp Lejeune is which is home to some 50,000 Marines. Marines love to buy cars. If it's a sport compact around the mid 30k mark or below, more than likely there are going to be several around here.
From what I hear there are like 2-3 Blue, a few white, a coupe blacks, a few silvers. Not really sure if there are any red ones here yet.
You can't even imagine the sheer number of SRT-4's there are around here!!

I work in the auto industry at a Tier 1 supplier. Some co-workers and I were discussing this. We basically concluded that Mitsu is the most "fragile" asian supplier right now. It has several jointly designed vehicles with chrysler (who is hitting the **** tank right now) and very limited appeal to the mass market ie: they aren't known for super high quality, great design, great mpg, etc. I would like to hear some others thoughts on this.

I don't think the general population has any kind of view on what Mitsubishi is about. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at MMNA HQ when they go over market strategy, product placement and overall business processes. It'd be interesting to see what the brass is thinking.
All the car manufactures are reporting car sales being down. The only one that hasn't been hurt that much has been Hyundai. SUV and trucks sales are the worse, then large cars, midsize cars, etc etc.
Toyota, Honda, and Nissan are hurting too..but not that much, only because of their strong marketing presence of their cars being fuel effecient and Honda and Toyota having hybrid vehicles in their lineups.
Mitsu needs to start appeal to the fuel conscious consumer market. I finally saw a Mitsu ad marketing the new Lancer can get 30mpg. The new Outlanders also get better MPG than the previous year from better fuel mapping of the 08 models.

GM - down 18%
Toyota - down 21%
Ford - down 27%
Chrysler - down 36%
Honda - up
Hyundai - up
All you have to look at is what those that are up sales wise sell... small, fuel friendly vehicles and they are not heavily invested in the truck market. Toyota is down big because they have way too many truck/suv models currently (FJ cruiser, 4runner, tundra, tacoma, rav-4, sequoia, land cruiser and highlander).
I wonder how Mitsu will fit in, they don't really have a niche market in the US other than the EVO.
Right. What does the general populace think when they hear Mitsubishi ? My neighbor (older fellow) says TV ! Mitsubishi does make a great TV !

It's actually pretty damn interesting if you goto their site:

They are a very diverse company but here in the US all we see typically is tv's, auto's, forklifts, etc.
With the price of the Evo X it wasn't going to be a big seller when it came out and now with the gas prices they'll have a very tough time. I mean I remembered when I bought my Evo 8, it was $29K out the door. The interior has not gotten any better, it's not a huge jump in quality compare to the old car. They really need to price it better.

If the Xs, especially the MRs, sit on the lots long enough the prices will come down. The dealers will have no choice but to drop the price to move the inventory.
When this happens I might pick one up.

I honestly said a few years ago that MMNA wouldn't be in the US much longer after their "no payments for a year" fiasco. They ended up with a ton of repos on that deal.
But then I realized, as posted above, that Mitsubishi is a huge company and autos in the US are but a small component of their overall brand.
Personally I wouldn't even look at any Mitsu other than the Evo. Every other car in the lineup is either odd looking or tired and Mitsu falls firmly into the lower tier of quality and fit and finish *in my opinion*.

But the general public don't care, we just want to buy an affordable bang for your buck fun car. It's really up to Mitsu to figure out how to build the car at the right price. I mean they could build the Ralliart spec car with the Evo X body and brakes and so on and just not include AWC and price it around $29K and people would buy it. The Ralliart that's coming out is great but it's missing the brakes, suspension, wheels, tires, fender flairs and so on. I don't mind the detuned engine, that's easily fixed, and the AWC is great but the old Evo didn't have all that and it was still very well handling car.
yeah the interest rate makes it the worst. I was just going over the bills with my father and we decided to pay off the ix with a credit card and switch our rates to 2.9% its gonna save me thousands. I had a horrible rate to begin with from mitsu, those ****s
