here is your logical reasoning:
Z = RWD = kick your *** if you mess up
Evo = AWD = go slower if you mess up....

unless you drive the Z perfectly... you are gonna be posting some ****ty *** times... just look @ all the ppl who have M3's (non v8's)... they post much slower times when driven by normal enthusiasts when compared to an evo... when it comes to pro drivers... and ONLY when it comes to pro drivers will the Z even come close to an evo...

I love my RWD G35... while it might not be as fast as a Z... if its any indication asto how the Z will perform... the evo should have no issues walking all over it in a course (not driven by pros of course)... I think most people take the pro numbers on tracks for granted... an evo is a million times simpler to drive and much more forgiving than a rwd z...

and lets not even start discussing how much the evo would walk all over the Z in all aspects if you spent like 2-3K on each...

Remember... there are a zillion computers measuring things a thousand times a second in the evo... fixing things as need be... with the Z... you better be able to do all that and some...

So in other words, since you suck as a driver, you need an Evo to be somewhat decent? Doesn't say much about you now does it?

Also, G's have NEVER been indicators of how Z's will perform. OK, well maybe, as in the Z can't be WORSE.

Woah... Z's are kinda speedy lol:
1. Pat Bateman ---------------------07 Base 6spd 13.150@107.62mph 2.027 60ft
2. Veetec --------------------------07 Base 6spd 13.157@105.32mph 1.938 60ft
3. Peak350 -------------------------07 Enth 6spd 13.239@105.67mph 1.923 60ft
4. Warmmilk ------------------------07 Enth 6spd 13.412@104.04mph 2.006 60ft
5. Bkennedy ------------------------07 Enth 6spd 13.476@102.90mph 2.070 60ft
6. OzzyRulez -----------------------07 Base 6spd 13.514@102.64mph 2.083 60ft
7. 2007-Z --------------------------07 Tour 6spd 13.540@102.20mph 2.068 60ft
8. PFI350Z -------------------------07 Base 6spd 13.568@104.69mph 2.159 60ft

so there are 2 z's which ran a 13.1X... you made it seem like they would run a 13.1 on their worst day... but i do admit they are faster than i thought... Dont get me wrong... I would love to see the 13.0 or even 12.9X on the new 370z... im prolly gonna trade my G in for one anyways... plan is to DD the 370 and mod the crap out of the evo lol

RWD is fun, except in the snow. Just drive them and see which you like better.

A good bunch of Drivers would rather get a car that is ALREADY Refined from factory... You don't need to tune a Porsche 911 Turbo or a 'Vette Z06 to be able to keep up with other fast cars; while we can't forget the fact that these are cars well over 100K. But my point is, if you can get a Z that's better performance-wise (cause interior and materials it wins against the Evo hands down) than an Evo, and four roughly the same price, then why not go for it?

While some might enjoy modding the heck out of the among-best-in-class-for-mods Evos, the other bunch wants to buy a car that's going to deliver without having to count on mods. I'd love to have an Evo that gives bout 350 horses (which sounds like the perfect number for this car) without expending an extra $2,500+ and a voided warranty on a brand new, over 32 grands machine.

Ha ha... I have both cars... I know what they are capable of... In other words? now that is your interpretation... Are you seriously gonna argue that your mad driving skills compare to the pros that make the "times" LOL... keep dreaming homie... And i guarentee you... if the 370z and the evo were driven by a pro... and they were identical in some track (time wise of course)... and then you ... Mr stig... got into both cars... your times on the evo will be much better than the 370... unless you have a sponsorship or a very deep wallet to fix all the rwd ****ups you will inevitable commit... the point is not which car accounts for a bad driver more... but which car is more forgiving to fault... now with that said... if you wanna argue with me that you can drive perfectly every time... then thats a different story... can you?

Good drivers make faults all the time... that is how they learn to push their cars to the absolute limit... if you think its just the same in an evo or a Z... or if you think that ones learning curve is identical to the other (skill and cost wise)... well then...you have other much bigger issues to deal with...

and yes... G's usually set the point below which all Z's lie (timewise) so you can use it as an upperbound usually....

Agreed/// but how many ppl who get Z's mod them? much less imo than ppl who mod their evos (for power)... the Z has good potential stock... but when comparing to the evo... well one is a stock turbo and one is not... end of story when you talk about updating anything...

If you are gonna keep it stock... get the 370 or the evo whatever floats your boat.. if you want to mod it... and know you are not gonna be happy w/ 270/280 @ the wheels... then pick the evo .. simple as that

The new Z will be a great car. My G/F's 07 350z auto trans went 13.4@106 and it was loaded with the goodies.

So i believe that the new Z will without a doubt run 12's bone stock with a competent driver. Believe it or not.
The Z car is of better quality than the EVO and as far as looks that is a matter of opinion but i will be picking one up for sure when they come out.

Exactly! Thank you. I know the Evo is considered a "tuner" car and many mod them, but not everyone. Some of us like to buy a car (especially if you're paying $30K+ for it) that has the things we're looking for (looks, performance, practicality, whatever..) without having to put money into it, and risking the warranty. So, stock vs. stock, I think the 370Z will give a X a run for the money. Actually, the Z should have no problem with it in a straight line, the twisties will have to be seen.........

Ahhhh, it's nice having 450hp AND Quattro - stock!

why do evo fanboys act like AWD is the holly grail.. AWD is nice but its not Everything.. 99% of the best handling fastest production track cars are, guess.. RWD... yes i said it.. 350z, S2000, rx8,corvette, vipper, lotus,BMW, ect, ect.. look at time attack times and look at the fastest cars.. AWD isnt posting hung gains compared to equily weighted and powered cars.. RWD being so unforgiving on the track is also a mith. its not that hard. Its clear the 370z is going to own the track and the strip in STOCK trim.. and again after the 5k or more investment in aftermarket.. in short stock for stock the Z owns all , and then owns all again once a turbo kit is involved.

Are you sure of that? Don't assume I don't know how to drive a Z.

The 370Z should be lower. Probably two of the heaviest parts of the car are the engine and tranny. The engine in the Z is pushed right up against the fireall and then the tranny behind that, probably over the CG of the car.

The evo has the engine, transmission, transfer case, and the additional weight of the front axles all sitting farther away from the CG of the car.

Additionally, I think I read the weight distribution of the Z is 54:46. It's probably in the 60:40 to 65:35 range for the Evo. Granted, that doesn't tell you anything about polar moment of inertia... but knowing what the heaviest parts of the car are and their locations, you can infer that the heavy parts of the Z are much closer to the center of the car than the Evo.

Um, how many track days have you been to? Anyone driving in the Advanced groups of any track day should be able to extract everything out of the Z. Heck, almost all the cars in Advanced groups are RWD (911s, M3s, S2000s, etc). I'd say roughly 25% of the people at track days are Advanced. That's a good percentage of people.

Exactly. Like I said before awd, even sh-awd is not some automatic win button. Some of these guys are talking like the Z is going to handle like a boat, when the old one didn't handle that poorly.. Others are talking like one mistake and the car will bite your head off..
RWD is at least equal to a 4wd car on a road course, and you don't have to be a pro to drive it.. Anyone with a decent amount of experience will be able to ring out great numbers from it.

The Z's numbers look good, but like I said we'll have to see how the car runs when it comes out

An Enthusiast model 350Z does NOT cost $37k. WTF are you smoking? An enthusiast is the second-lowest model in the 350Z's lineup. A 2008 350Z Enthusiast 6MT has an MSRP of $30,905. The 2008 350Z Grand Touring's MSRP is $37,435.00. But why would you compare the HIGHEST model Z to the base model Evo?

PS: Price for the 370Z is already known, and has been posted in here.
Yes I shall read if you will as well. The figures came from Edmunds.com. Look them up for yourself.
