will the 370z out-perform the Evo X?
Serious? I came from a 350Z and I HATE the 370 look... specially that non functional rear reflector in the middle of the bumper... I mean how hard is it to design a US version since US law doesn't require one there compared to Euro
I'm glad Nissan moved to only 2 models (instead of the 4/5 they used to have) and made the Track equipment a package option. Brilliant, IMO.
Hey Stevo, I do not know where you get your figures from but I cited mine from Edmunds and their cheapest 350Z is $36.9. Second, I think it is an impossibility that the lowest 370Z is going to be less than or even equal to that figure. So my comparo stands.
Yes, you are correct if one is interested in appearances, I agree a coupe is better line than a roller skate on steroids. However, the discussion was always focused on performance and what is the best bang for the buck.

Touring is 33,340 and when u add Nav for 2k, and whatever else, you get it up to 36,900 so IDK what YOU were looking at

The 370Z looks spectacular, IMO. I do agree, however, with the butthole thing. I don't have the slightest clue why Nissan left the fog light (especially a non-functional one) on the USDM cars. Nothing a dremel to the bumper can't take care of though.

Only if you get the upgrade kit, but even then it only upgrades the front rotors and it's not like they're much bigger at all. The difference is negligable anyway; 14.0 compared to 13.8. I bet the rears are smaller than ours, though. I'll be very curious to see what the braking distances are on the car. Edmunds will be doing a road test soon, so we'll know before too long.

So even if they stop a same distance /i doubt/ the break will fade lot later. /if those brembo's also/

You can get a VQ block built for $8k that'll handle 800-900whp. As for the cost of the turbo kits, it's roughly the same as any of the twin scroll GT30-35 kits out there for the Evo.
So lets just say for equal power production, you're going to spend $8k more for the Z.
How much do you need to spend to drop off 300lbs from the X while being completely DD streetable? Full interior, stereo, all the seats, all the sound deadening. I'm not even sure it's possible to do it. You're talking lightweight seats, all new CF body panels, lighter weight brakes, wheels, any other component you can swap out for a lighter one. How much will that cost to do?
Going light cost money too

Put it this way, it'll be FAR cheaper to cut a little weight and add a little power to the X than it will be to raise power levels on an NA engine. Let's just see the road test results of the car before we make any other judgement calls though. What'll be interesting to see is a direct comparison test of the 370 vs the X stock for stock. I think it'll really come down to the track they choose to test the cars on. We shall see...

It upgrades to Nissan Sport 4 piston/2 piston calipers, not just larger front rotors.
Also, the rears are WAY larger than the X's, coming in the same size as your fronts (but with 2 piston calipers).
So, just to clarify:
370Z w/Sport package has 4 piston, 14" front brakes and 2 piston, 13.8" rear brakes.
Edit: Bboypuertoroc beat me to it. Sti2EvoX was mislead because for whatever reason, on Nissans website, it seems to imply that only the front gets larger rotors.

I didn't realize that the rears were that big. It should be a great car, but I think the X will make a better platform for modding and track preparation. If the USCC challenge where a heavier and much less modded X beat the super prepped 350 Z is any indication, I would say that the 370 is facing a difficult challenge as a tuner platform. Stock for stock, the Z will probably take the X on a fast course, but I would bet money that on a tight track, the X will take the win. Let's just let the road tests do the talking and then we can "magazine race" more accurately.
