Defective Stock Recaro Seats
Thats the first thing I noticed went I first saw the X in person, I just had to touch that carbon etched plastic, it felt almost K-Mart like. But it's just a seat and they had to cut cost, I'd rather it be the seat than the performance! Over all if I had any issue's my dealer would resolve them! Come on April 18th, my GSR awaits me (GOD WILLING)!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah...that staple issue is already happening on my seets...I have 575 miles on my car! they Stapled into foam...FOOAAAM! why?
It has even happened on my passenger seat...and that's been sat in two different times

I love the seats in my X, but I gotta say that they seem a little cheap where the racing harness holes are. Those faux carbon things are really cheap feeling, and today I noticed that on my passenger side the fabric was sagging slightly around one of them, exposing a staple that apparently has come loose! I tucked it back in, and you can't see it anymore but if you pull on it it comes back out pretty easily. I wonder if I took it to the dealer if they would do anything about it. My guess is that whatever they would do I could do myself, i.e try to lift up that plastic piece and use a staple gun to try and resecure it, etc. Has anyone else had this happen? Doesn't really bother me THAT much, although it is a little disappointing. Oh well, I didn't buy the car for the interior, but it would be nice if mitsu could make sure that crap like this doesn't happen. Anyway, what do you guys think?
Thank god I didnt fall into the hype on spending 40k+ on a poor quality car
BTW....The seat belts on an evo 8/9 is made by takata....go to your evo x and find out where that's made.
Sorry guys, but that's what it's looking like from these threads.
Squeaky wheel getting the oil. As is the case with any car forum, you'll always get the few having problems complaining the loudest. Just something to keep in mind. As with anything this is just a sampling of the cars running around in the wild as a whole.
I actually love the new seats...but I'm not too crazy about the back of the seats (miss the plastic backing because passengers tend to kick it).
But overall, no problems to date here.

Engine hesitation, phantom reflashes, seats falling apart, bad paint, pedals falling off, a guy needing a clutch after 3000 miles, unreasonable dealer markups
Damn - I was all set on an evo, but if mitsubishi haven't learnt anything since 03, and are releasing rubbish again, looks like as much as I want one, I may have to steer clear again.
There are many people out there who really want an evo, but are afraid of mitsubishi's tendency to build a bad quality product.
How do they continuously manage to screw up a bloody great car...
If they actually screwed it together right, they would sell many many more...
