Does it run stock boost? Maybe one of the solenoid side pills is out? This will add 1-2 more psi and can trigger a P1235 on a stock ROM.

One thing I'm wondering is if the previous owner messed with the TCU...
Could they have? Can we even modify any of the fields now? I thought that ability JUST arrived, and he's had the car for awhile.

Yah I guess you're right... unless he got curious. But if he was going to go that far I doubt he would have downgraded to a 5speed.

it will also change the boost profile as well so even with slight boost the curve has changed, coupled with elevation, could trigger this.

Man I wish you could get your hands on his car. I bet you could find it Bryan. That's the other thing with techs... most of the time they have no idea what they are doing.

Stopped by the dealer today to see what's going on, and I guess a guy from Mitsubishi is headed to the dealership tomorrow to work directly with techs to try and find the source of the problem. So, we'll see how that goes.

No way. They can't replicate the issue because they don't get enough of a chance to drive it. However the service manager says he has the freeze frame data from the car, so that should help quite a bit. Maybe there's something this guy will be able to see, that they don't see.

Sad to see a Denver evo go down. I was having a ton of 1235 issues here in FoCo, I ended up using the AP disable on it, but actually killed a fair amount of it from changing the airflow tables.

Have they logged the boost levels? It's very possible your previous owner did as Bryan mentioned and yanked the boost pill, it's also very possible he cranked the wastegate pre-load down entirely. I had my 1235 pop up after I cranked it a few notches.

Too bad you didn't have an AP. I'd be able to help you out then by looking at your logs/having you get ATR and trying to tweak the tables a bit.

Shoot me a PM if you need help at all, I sometimes venture south on the weekends.. as long as this snow stops.

Yeah, I wish I had an AP as well. Would be great for troubleshooting this issue. I'm going to stop by the dealership later today and see what they've come up with.

Well, Mitsubishi really dropped the ball here. The guy that was supposed to show up on Wednesday, cancelled his appointment due to weather conditions. We had 2", yes, that's right TWO INCHES of snow fall on Wednesday afternoon through midnight, and this guy cancelled. It didn't even delay my normal drive home, as there was almost no snow on the roads. I'm so severely disappointed by Mitsubishi representatives, it's ridiculous.

So, I have to say that I'm starting to realize that the dealership is doing everything they can to fix this problem, and Mitsubishi is seriously dropping the ball. I've now contacted Mitsubishi, and I'm going to start putting extreme pressure on them to try and get this issue looked at, so we can work towards a solution. Dean, the service manager at the dealership, has a couple other things he has to pull from the car and send to the Mitsu tech line, and to check a few other things. I've mentioned the boost pill thing to them, and Dean agreed that may be a good thing to look at.

For now, I'm continuing to pursue a lawsuit against Mitsubishi, as well as putting an enormous amount of pressure on them to get this problem looked at. We're now looking at 2 months that they've had my car, for just this problem, since May of 2009. F*cking ridiculous.

I'm not a lawyer, and don't know your state laws... but I really don't see how is to blame in a lawsuit. You did buy a used car. If it was brand new I could see it.

Either way, are they going to reschedule? I'd doubt he'd just cancel and not reschedule.

Under Colorado lemon law, it doesn't matter whether or not a car is used or new. It all has to do with the original date of purchase. Either way, Mitsubishi has provided me with a car that I had many of the problems within the first year, and has been unable to fix it. I'm paying a payment and insurance for a vehicle I'm unable to use, now two months of that. The argument is that I could be making better use of that money, or it could go towards another vehicle that actually works. Top it off with the fact that I'm lucky enough to have another vehicle to drive. What if I didn't? What if it were some poor guy that bought this car and it was his daily driver? 2 months of rental cars, on top of the hassle of having to deal with all that, is absurd. Top it all off with the fact that this issue should be covered by Mitsubishi past warranty expiration. The fact that this is such a big problem means that Mitsu should be required to fix it if it continues to happen past warranty expiration.

You also have to remember, this isn't MY fault either. So whether or not Mitsubishi goes after the dealership for selling a modified car, I don't really care. Someone is at fault here, and it's not me. I made a concerted effort to understand that the car had not been modified, when I bought it.

The other argument is that Mitsubishi has totally dropped the ball, and isn't living up to their end of the warranty work. 2 months of shop time, and 8 total months, is far from acceptable.
