Recurring P1235 code...
Update: For some reason, I have a feeling some of the people at the dealership lack attention to detail. Downpipe came in on Monday, and the parts department called me telling me to come pick up my part. I'm like, "um, I didn't order that. It was your service department". Next the service manager tells me he thinks they may be missing a part to put it all back to stock. Like, wtf? Seriously, you didn't take the time to make sure you ordered all the necessary parts? Great. Then they tell me that they got the wrong part. The part they received is definitely a downpipe, but surely not the one for the X. double wtf? Then, finally, a sliver of better news. A tech was rummaging around the car and found a few vacuum hoses and other things that had leaks and weren't as tight as they should be. They are hoping this could be a fix to the problem. Also, the sales department agreed to return the exhaust system to stock, no matter what the issue may be.
I MIGHT get my car back today, after dropping it off 16 days ago. Ridiculous.

Got the car back on Nov 25th, without the downpipe being replaced yet, but after their tinkering. I took a couple trips with it into the mountains, and over the 4 day weekend, I was able to trigger it 4 different times. It's really easy to do now. Incline at about 70mph, smash the pedal and downshift to 5th, and almost every time it'll throw the code, then the tranny starts acting funny again. turn the car off real quick and back on, and everything is back to normal. Tranny only acts funny right after the code is thrown. Lame.
So, back to the dealer it goes today. Who knows how long I'll be without it again. Either way, all I want is for it to get fixed.

Otherwise, I'm still consulting a lawyer to see what we can do under the lemon law.
Update: So, finally, my dealer is working on getting the downpipe replaced. They have the right downpipe part, but I guess there's another piece that goes between the turbo and the downpipe itself that they had to order. Hopefully it will be on the car by the end of the week.
It's been ok with me that they have the car, because it's snowing like crazy here lately, and I've been able to park my truck in the garage for a snow removal free morning, lol.

Yeah, I'm pretty pissed about it, but I figure I'll be nice to them until they get the job done, then I'm done with them. Once the car is back to stock, I can take it anywhere without problems. If this exact problem happens again, that's when I'll contact Mitsubishi to make a much bigger deal about it.
Definitely feels like a Mickey Mouse situation. I'm glad you don't blame the car. They really are amazing cars. Especially in Super Sport Mode in Manual mode. Blew my freaking mind. 450whp evo ix's had trouble shaking me. (I'm at 310whp).

I remember seeing your car for sale at Skyline about a year ago, sorry about the luck you've had with it. And the new downpipe should take care of your problem if you're only mod is the downpipe, and all you were getting was a P1235. P1235s are easy to come by with the altitude and the cold; I know all too well.

Be careful taking it to other dealers once the new downpipe is on. If they notice that the downpipe section looks newer than the rest of the exhaust they'll start asking questions. i.e. why do you have a new downpipe? make sure your situation is well documented if you take it to another dealer.
Finally, I got the car back on Friday, with a brand new, stock downpipe installed on it. Stunk to high hell for a couple of days, but so far, no problems to report. I still have to get it into the mountains where it's easy to trigger the issue, but so far, so good. Problem is, stock tires suck in the snow!
So, we'll see how this one goes.
