does an aftermarket fuel rail fix this or do we need a whole new fuel return pipe and have it bracketed on differently.

The problem is on the return fuel line, so ONLY a rail will not solve it. Yes, if you want to go aftermarket you need a set containing not only rail but also return line.

The AMS fuel rail comes with a new feed line, which replaces the metal one mounted to the engine.

I could see why this recall was issued. Working on the intake gasket I saw how flimsy these lines were.

Are you sure that it is the return line? In the specs it says it is feed line

There is only one line going to the fuel rail.

But there *IS* a fuel return line, correct? Even if it's not directly attached to the fuel rail itself?

I was under the impression the "crack prone" part was the return line, and not the fuel rail feeding line. If you look at the lines running there, you can clearly see two lines: One feeding the rail, which looks snugly attached, and one leading back, beside it. This one sort of "hovers", and is the one I believe they're changing.
