Lancer Evolution X News, Info, Pics, etc... | [ALL THREADS MERGED]
There's no doubt that the power will be increased.. The only question is the final specs.. I've heard statements that its supposed to be a little over 300.. Others say thats its targeting 320.. Who knows what the final specs will be.. But they need to hurry up and get all the info out that we need to know..
Current speculation states that the Evo X will have 320hp and 325 torque. S-AWC will easily offset the added weigh, which will be the most advanced AWD system in the world, unless some company comes out with something before this system is debuted. The Evo X will also be considerably wider also for even more grip and better handling. The Evo X will be stiffer than the current Evo too, that will provide even more grip and quicker handling response.

i am kind of disappointed for Mitsubishi, well because IMO, they finally got the right look for the Evo which is the IX...from Evo VII to VIII to IX...then suddenly bam! the X came out...anyways im just happy that i have the last Evo with the looks i want.
Most people(that doesnt know the Evo) tells something like "why did you buy a $38,000 car? you will get tired of it someday and you would want to get the latest Evo, its not worth it." and im thinking "nope this is it since the way they did to the X."
But I still dont doubt the X's performance...yet...until i see it in action. but for the looks, "not so much."-Borat

Yep.. That's all the reson NOT to be disappointed.. The developers KNOW about the EVO legacy.. They're not gonna step in and say, Lets F*@k this thing up and do what we want.. No.. They are making it BETTER... It's funny how everybody acts towards change.. I walk straight ahead.. It seems that some walk sideways in order to keep from moving forward.. In other words, change is good people..
With the Evolution, they've had 3 different models with every platform.. EVO I, II, III were on one platform.. EVO IV, V, And VI were on another.. EVO VII, VIII, IX were on the last.. It's time for change people.. Everybody said when the 7 came out that they hated it. They all wanted the VI.. But guess what, with the AYC integrated into the transmission that year, it was BETTER than the VI.. And it just keeps getting better..
I think blitzkrieg79 is right. Lets pass judgement when there's more actually testing done.

I guess people here aren't used to reading articles critically. The entire point of my post is to show that the two cars are not tuned identically and SPECIFICALLY that VW makes ABSOLUTELY NO CLAIM that the DSG car is faster because of the transmission. Now why would they not claim that? Hmmm...
It doesn't state what the torque difference is but it CLEARLY states that the difference is DUE to the tuning. If you are saying that the DSG transmission car would be faster than a manual transmission car if they have the same power output, then you are DISAGREEING with VW engineers. Yes it shifts faster, but the car does not go faster. It's as simple as that. FYI when you are talking about a 100-120hp TDI motor (as in the article quoted) that doesn't rev well a 5hp difference is probably at least 10-15 ft lbs of torque.

Obviously, if you shift faster you are spending more time accelerating instead of coasting. So, while it might not be the sole reason for it being faster it has to be helping.
something else DOES need to be said... The X will weigh 200 pounds MORE than the IX, despite the fact that the new engine is over 50 pounds LIGHTER than the 4G63!!!!! Thats over 250 pounds of added weight with this new platform and luxury crap they are putting into it. It will be as much Audi as it will Evo
As far as performance of the stock engine is concerned I've read rumors of about 310-320HP and Popular Mechanics even predicted 350hp.

I'm not disappointed in the X so far. I think it looks much better than the VIII/IX.
I reserve the right to be disappointed in the X after it's released and we know details like price and specs. Until then, disappointment is premature.
Even then, the real test will be 2-3 years after it's released and we see tuning potential realized and the level of aftermarket and consumer support for the new platform.
