definately. I think it's cool that they're soo closely alike. Not everyone can afford the evo's. Of course some ppl (mainly evo owners) will think of them are perps, or imposters, but i don't care. Ppl can say what they want. If i can't afford an evo, im gonna look like one. =)

And I think that is what Mitsubishi was thinking when designing the new generation of Lancers and Evos. Reality is that Evo is their halo car but due to its price it doesn't sell in large quantities (everyone will want to go to dealership to check out the new Evo but most will walk away with something cheaper).

Basically Mitsubishi was trying to use the rally Evo heritage in it's design/marketing of the base Lancer (as in non-Evo) which is their volume leader when it comes to the entire Lancer lineup. I know current Evo owners do not like it BUT most of the Evo owners purchased their cars on rally heritage of the Lancer Evo brand in WRC but the reality is that the Evo that can be purchased at every Mitsu dealership is also worlds apart from the real deal rally bred Lancer Evo.

Of course... who wants or can afford a daily-driven half-mill car that is undrivable in traffic and needs a new turbo every few days? They had to replace most things with reliable, cost-effective parts which come as close to the original as they can. That doesn't mean that it's not good for rally, though... The european rallies are full of store-bought EVOs that were upgraded within regulations.

hey man hahah like i said...sometimes the look is just great. People , usually uneducated, don't know which lancer you have..makes you ffeel good that u car looks fast, and competitive regarldess of "what" it looks like (i.e. evo or etc). ? I personally just want a good looking car..aggressive, etc.. ya know?

I think that most people just want a good looking, fairly efficient car. I don't know how much role the HP plays in average Joe picking it's car but in all reality with the low speed limits throughout the US (even in the freaking Poland with their crappy roads the highest speed limit is about 85-90MPH, here in Jersey where we have Turnpike and Parkway the fastest you can go is 65MPH which is pretty pathetic; on related note, Germans conducted studies on speed limits and it turns out that there is far less accidents at higher speed because people are usually more alert when driving faster)), the only way you'll ever make use of all the HP is on a race track and I am more than sure that 99% of all drivers don't race.

I think it would've still been nice of mitsubishi if they gave awd to basic lancers too. Kinda like what subaru does to the 2.5rs

Well I heard that it was coming out in november from a salesman at medina, Ohio. I also went to Mentor Mitsubishi also in Ohio that is where i bought my 9 and I talked directly to the manager of the dealership he told me the earliest he could get me one would be 4 months that was in early August or the end of July can't remember so either December or January. Also the release date and the actual day we can get our grubby little hands on them is another thing..... Oh and one more thing I also heard that a 40,000 dollar price tag is not out of the question either UGH... I guess just wait and see

If Mitsubishi gave AWD to regular lancers they would cost more. Lancers are a good solution if you want a cheap POS. Cheap POS don't have AWD. A base Subaru Impreza costs a LOT more than a base Lancer.
