kinda dissapointing...
Did I read that right...295 HP? Wow, I thought they would at least get 320 out of it, whats the point of a new engine then? Saving 27lbs but sacrificing the reliability of the 4G63? I understand the interrior and the comfort level has evolved, but I don't see the performance evolution. Can you imagine the cost of a clutch job at the dealer for that 6 speed double clutch? Ouch! Looks wise it's so so, the IX looks more unique, the X looks kinda like the Lexus IS. Seems like they made it more like BMW or Lexus and did away with the "race car" status, too bad, thats what made the Evo different and cool. I hope people like it, I'm happy with my 9.

This is only hear-say, but supposedly the 4g63 engine wouldn't be able to pass the upcoming emission requirements. I'm really curious to see how well the 4b11 responds to mods, but if it's anything like the SRT-4, which it is I'm sure it will respond well if not better. I'm going to sit back and watch what happens the first year the X is out before I make a decision on whether to get the car or not. One of the reasons I left my old EVO VIII was that it was just too raw and lacked many things that I like such as NAV, Cruise, decent interior etc.

^found some more!
I can imagine the Premium Package with the chrome outline around the grill and the matching hood and side vents, better rims, and lowered and that would be the hotness right there.

i just read the road and track road test. i can't believe it's significantly slower in a straight line! what the hell are they thinking? i'm definitely not going to be an early adopter of the X. its saving grace might be in the performance potential of the 4b11, but unless it's as easy or easier than the IX to get more power, i'm probably going to get a used m3 smg. guess i'll stay tuned for when the big shops get ahold of them and start working their magic.

One thing I'm worried about is if I DO get a X, then I'm getting it with the SST, and if it turns out the ECU won't let the clutches deal with additional power very well as is the case with the Audi/VW DSG unit, I'm going somewhere else for my paddle-shifting pleasure ala the current-gen BMW M3 SMG. I like the Evo, for all its faults, because it is a hard-edged, true-blue rally car for the street, or at least as close to it as any modern production vehicle can possibly be. If it turns out the latest iteration is just a heavy, slow, unmodifiable terd...that corners well...well cornering be damned I'll take my $35K elsewhere...and I'll chalk the Evo up as a fond memory...like when the '00 Eclipse came out...and the market switched from hardcore enthusiasts to lame, raver-wannabe chicks car-dancing...

Also, does anyone have any info if mitsu used the same main/rod bearing procedures as the 2nd gen DSM's... meaning, are they standard size bearings or size to match bearings where each journal has to be measured and then a bearing selected from your measurments?
