silly question but I'm assuming this is the same for the RA? I think i've come to the understanding that most of the evo (esp MR) how to's are mostly transferable to the RA

Just did this, great write up.

... made substantially easier for me due to the oil pan/filter cover being MIA.

My X takes about 4 and 3/4 quarts. 5 quarts seems to be too much.
You are correct. That's about 4.5 litres. Using a full 5 litres container is too much (as I found out--the hard way!).

Great write-up, thanks. Changing the oil looks so much easier than on my A4. The A4 had this pesky filter housing with the filter element inside. Even though there was a drain port, I still managed to make a mess. But the ridiculous part was the motor mount sensor located directly below the filter housing! You have to unplug the motor mount sensor to make it easier to remove the housing....

There was this saying in the Audi world, "throw a German engineer down a hole with a ladder and he'll build a shovel and tunnel his way out."

Neither did I know this. I've just re-read the post, also.
Three quarts (US) = 2.84 litres approx. That's over half the oil in the sump. Better not to go that low!

NEED HELP!!! Oil dipstick problems

I drive a 2004 oz rally lancer and I changed my oil four days ago. I checked my oil the dipstick shows oil only on the tip, I checked for leaks no leaks at all, I filled the oil to 4 and 1/2(I add just because it's a older car). The oil light isn't on and car sounds fine I been driving it with no problems. I'm stumped can anyone please help!! Anyone come across this problem?
