im 16, just got an evo 8
It's a complete waste of money. Our turbo is watercooled, unless you've been beating on your car right before parking you dont need to let it cool down. If the car needed a TT then it would have come with one. Also leaving your car parked without being in gear is not safe. Also, a TT will void your warranty .. LOL that's funny but true.

I didn't want to type this again, but this about sums up my feelings:
High schoolers --- listen up . . . . this is for you.
Don't knock older drivers for being concerned for your lives and your safety. Age, most of the time, equals experience. Older drivers have already made the testosterone-charged mistakes of youth --- when they were Y0UNG. They lived through those harrowing events and accidents because they were driving idiotically in relatively underpowered vehicles / ones that don't inflate the driver's confidence level beyond an econo-car level of proficiency. Some even had the high hp cars of the past --- and will honestly say "that thing almost got me killed".
An Evo is not a good car for beginning drivers to learn on --- period. It comes with an ego the size of Texas, but no prerequisite for maturity, *****, or responsibility. It coaxes you to test it's limits, and rewards you with tickets. And yes, if you've had less than 5 years of driving unaccompanied, you're still considered a novice by most agencies. Also, honing your driving habits on other well-rounded (perhaps not race-proven) cars actually comes with many benefits; like a casual disregard for flashy graphics and lighting, respect for well-kept vehicles, well-timed traffic entry and exit skills (due to normal acceleration), and the dramatically lower probability of a race challenge (resulting in longer life --- for you).
If you're already driving an Evo and haven't even graduated high school yet, you're statistically more dangerous on the road than South Park senior citizens on crotch rockets (doubt that? Ask your insurance rep . . . ), and if you're a hot-head wannabe Paul Walker intent on racing your friends, then you're further responsible for most of our (and definitely your) insurance-related woes. These are also the guys that get our (and your) friends killed by racing and trying to impress people with your "skills".
Don't be that guy. Please. We'd actually enjoy a chance to get to know you before you decide to do something that might end you.
As far as your Evo is concerned, I can almost hear them yelling, "Dead car rollin! . . . " . . . but hey, you could beat the odds.

Try not to mod your car now. Your only 16. You still got years of driving to do.
You might end up trading ur evo. If i was parent, i wont let my kid drive evo kind cars at 16. Maybe when they are 20+.

16 with a evo? you sure as hell better be carefull with this car man...otherwise youll jus be another #... my parents would never let me drive something like this at such a young age...let alone be stupid enough to let me drive such a car like this...and parents get all upset when their 16 yr old son dies in a car crash ....its not your fault kid..its your parents fault.

Im 18 almost 19 and i definately thing you shouldnt mod or upgrade anything, put a sound system in your car and do exterior mods.. I feel that my driving from 16-19 has gotten alot better. At 16 or even 17 I shouldnt have had an evo and I didnt, I had a chevy cavalier that I learned to drive standard and got to know the real rules of driving.. I then upgraded to an srt-4 and learned alot about driving fast etc.. Now owning the evo for 4 months Im beginning modding, but you must learn your car and KNOW ITS LIMITS. I dont want to read in the paper about you crashing because you were showing off to some 15 year old girl that you can do a 140 mph around a corner. So seriously, take it easy dont go nuts, learn to drive stick, learn to drive the evo, learn the cars limits and whats safe... If you want to mod, get some new wheels, cf hood, tint, tail lights headlights
maybe a cold air intake for sound (rice) and maybe a cat back exhaust Sound system etc... No engine work or turbo adjustments, you should learn the car first bro be safe

Also my parents didnt buy my car i fully support all my bills and car payments, be careful not to spend more than you can afford. Leave a cushion in you rbank before modding. You will need regular maintaining of this car.. Oil changes/Fluid Changes/Gas! etc...
dude **** em all im 17 and i got my evo when i just turned 17. Im about to be 18 this month and i have a turbo kit coming in next week. If you want to mod the whip and have the money for it and any problems that might come in the future then **** it... DO IT. Live life and stop listening to the shmucks on this forum.
