When I was 16, getting a car period was something I couldn't even dream of. I definately have no problem with parents buying you a car. If thats your situation than more power to you. What I think and what most members on the forum that are way past the age you are suppose to graduate college think is that the evo is not a kids car. With peer pressure, hormones and inexperience, you are basically playing with your life. Im glad you 17 year olds want to live life to its fullest but it definately would be better to wait on a car like the evo. Even an $80,000 Range Rover seems more appropriate for a car at your age. Unfortunately with the many posts I've seen regarding age and evos, the young kids will only interpret what they want and will not read the posts for what they are trying to convey.

I love comparing the posts made by the 20+ group and the 16-18 crowd, the difference in syntax and grammar is astonishing. First off I have to get this off my shoulders, your parents should be slapped for getting you an evo at 16. I say this for a few reasons. The most obvious one being that you're far too young to drive such a powerful car, you've had your pubes for less time than most people have been driving when they finally upgrade to an evo.The second reason is they've essentially trapped you into an expensive lifestyle. If you ever tried to move out or be independent, you'd be stuck with insanely high insurance payments, high maintenance costs and high fuel costs (important considering oil is supposed to hit 100$ a barrel soon). OK with that stuff out of the way, don't mod the car. You already have a fast car and you certainly don't need it to be faster. If you must mod, do things that don't affect the performance like exterior or interior mods.

Wow, some of these guys act like your thread title was:

"I'm 16 just got a GSXr1000, some flip flops and a brand new bandanna, need mods asap!!"

Best advice I can give you is read this forum, for you there is no need to even post. Just use your head, and try not to hit anything that doesn't move.

Congrats on the car BTW.

Don't have to be sorry, but 30k on a benz or bmw won't get you anything fast. I never said the evo is a supercar, just that it's too much for a 16 year old.

He already got the car, whatever. Just don't do stupid things like race to the nearest mcdonalds from your school when you come out of the parking lot. That's what happens around here.

Exactly, he already has the car so anything we say is completely pointless since if he doesn't like it he can just ignore it.

Hey man, im in the same boat, i just turned 18 though. First car was a slobalt ss s/c (decent car when finished) but couldnt afford an evo for a first car. Then traded in the balt for the evo mr and it was prob. one of the best thing iv ever done. But for as the modding man, keep it simple, listen to all the guys above^. They know what there talking about. Im not ****ing up a 35000 ride over mods. Keep it simple and cheap for now. Good luck man, congrats on the ride

Suggestions? Don't hit anything, don't kill anyone else, don't kill yourself, don't streetrace. High school is the one place where everyone thinks they know everything, the camaro is faster than that POS import, let's meet at Johnson's farm or wherever people in your town race DON'T DO IT!! You'll make the 6am news and they'll be pulling yours or someone else's body out in a black zip-up bag

Screw Johnson's farm road, meet at dead mans curve!

Do it man. 16+evo=Michael Schumacher. Don't listen to all the naysayers, crank up the boost and street race everyone you can find!
