I had an STi guy come up to me and say, "I wish I had your car". Another STi guy said to me, "I wanted an Evo, but I got an STi". I'm sure a few of you have received comments like this. It seems to me like there is a substantial amount of envy coming from Subaru's direction.

that is false the 07 ans 08 have problems but u just need cobb to fix that problem
How does COBB fix that problem, by getting rid of gravity? Maybe the 09's have the problem too, they just havent been around long enough to show it. Seriously, when the cylinders lay flat, and gravity pulls down, what can you do about that?

I drove both. Evo in the morning...STI at night.

Mitsu gave me a better deal on the car, Subaru gave me a better deal on the trade in. I went with the Subaru.

Do I look back? Of course, how could I not...they are practically the same car and I see way more Subaru guys going to Evo's then I see the reverse...so Mitsu must be doing something right.

But in the end there was just something about the Subaru that made me want it. Who cares I can't make 350+hp on the stock turbo...my car is way to fast as it is.

And some of your "mechanical problems" with the Subaru you guys are listing are hilarious...you guys clearly are going by word of mouth.

I started with an 07 STi and owned it for 1 year and 3 months... and I like you, felt the same way towards the last 3 months I owned it. I did some mods to the STi and got it basically to the point where I wanted it to be. It was a wingless OBP and had a set of bronze Advan RZs lowered on RCE Yellow springs. I gave it some serious thought and made up my mind to part it out, sell it, and take my time and shop for an EVO. The second thing I did was decided on which EVO I wanted. The X was not out of the question pricewise but even after seeing some modded ones now... I still like the look of the VIII and IXs better.

If you are a point where you want an EVO, than you probably should just part the STI out and start the hunt for an EVO. It took me 3 months of hard looking to find a IX that was virgin, low miles and a decent price.

Again this will all depend on which EVO you want.

I suggest you find some EVO owners or do some test drives. I think this will either push you over the edge or not. I wouldn't mind owning an 05 WRX and doing some modding to it but as far as going back to the STI.... I wont. The EVO is a better fit for me and I happy with the decision I made.

Good luck man, hope this helps a little more than the usual 1 sentence biased opinion that people give you.

omg dood who are you kidding.... go to IWSTI and see how many "BLOWN 07 STI" threads there are about broken ringlands....

and the 08s also have a similar issue. Be glad you own an 06 and they had the least amount of issues next to the 05s.

Oh so the 2 dozen-ish people on a forum clearly represent the whole 07 production year?

Yes the tune sucked. But it was something easily fixed by some EM.

I was never saying EVERYTHING you guys mentioned was crap, just a majority of it.

Well to make a long story short.. I wanted to get an EVO, but one of my friends changed my mind and decided get go with the STi. I was thinking ok they are GENERALLY more reliable then a EVO.. I noticed they hold there value a little bit better so i bought the STi. Well i have had it for almost a year now.. I bought it with a CBE, and Cobb v2. I just modded it heavyly and for some reason i still want an EVO. I know some people that are vice vursea.. My one friend got a EVO9 2 months later got an 2007 STi and loves it way more...

The only reason in the first place i didn't get an EVO was bec i test drove to from dealers and they both had tran's problems..

I just really want an EVO..

"PLZ i don't want to start any EVO vs STi fights in this thread just wondering if anyone else has this feeling ever."
yes i wish i got an sti......so i got one and know i have both

NEVER. the Sti to me sounds like as our friends call it a "pooparu" cause it sounds like its farting because of the boxer rumble. Not a fan. But it is all personal preference. I love my evo X and will never go back.

I really jusy don't like the Sti being a hatchback... I think it's ugly. The Evo ALWAYS outperforms it stock vs. stock and I don't know about them holding their value any better, or being more reliable.. I think that is a matter of the owner's care as much as the car itself.
