im pumped, going to that dealer 2moro
Hey buddy! Well, I'm 15 and my parent actually just decided to get me a car now as a surprise for my B-Day... I'm a lucky guy, I've loved cars since I was 4 and I was looking at a Lancer GTS, or an old Evo 8. But my parents surprised me w/ an 09 Lancer Ralliart... It's amazing, it's nice b/c it's auto, but I can also do the little switch to manual if I'd like w/o the clutch. It's extremely safe, and all around an amazing car, so in my opinion, Ralliart all the way.... It's amazing! Lol

P.S.
Welcome to the forums Jack!

I have been dreaming and dreaming and dreaming of this moment all of my life and it finally came... I GOT MY **** F'IN LICENSE! ... i live in NJ and I need a car... I have been looking around and as I'm sure most teenagers do they set their sights high... At first I wanted a 2003 BMW M3 like MAD... Then reality struck me and I caught glimpse of the concept of "Money" and "Bad Economy" lol...
well now I have been drooling over the Evo X for about 2 months and I just can't stop thinking about it.
I know lot of your automatic response is "You are too young... Too immature... Too un-experienced to own such a high-performance car" or something to that degree...
I actually used to race "go-peds" and not that they rank up to a car I was able to tear down a full 2 cylinder scooter engine and rebuild it in less then 30 min...
I am EXTREMELY patient and extremely conscious about my belongings and how much they mean/are worth.
SOOOO I have about 20-22k to spend on a car and I REALLY REALLY want a Evo X.
I thought the only way it would be possible is if I leased one (which obviously blows cause I can't mod blah blah blah) but I would be able to deal with it b/c I love the car so much.
OR would I try to buy a used Evo X...
I am not sure whether I would want a GSR or MR, but I don't really know how to drive stick, but I'm sure I can learn. I once drove a manual car in Denmark a year ago and I stalled alot trying to get into first but I'm sure I can learn...
I don't plan on getting the car til about Sept-Oct b/c my mom is letting me use her car (Infiniti FX) which I love....

Any response is welcome, just not too negative please!
first off...19'd

second, lots of things wrong with this statement you just got your license and you want a bmw like MAD........not nicely, but MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD yo.... Ok, that was mistake number 1. Then you got some "brains" and say you will downgrade to an evo that you want to spend around low to mid 20's for. Good luck with that, MAYBE you can find a used evo with low miles that hasn't been beaten to crap for that cash. Knowing how to tear down and rebuild a go-ped motor in no way will prepare you for an evo. All that is saying is your very mechanically inclined and you have an idea of things you can do with your life.

It's not like I will have tons of time to save money and blah blah blah..
And it's not like I have never ever driven a high performance car before... I mean I have whipped, and I mean WHIPPED a G37x around (my uncles)...
That thing has some serious power too, alot more then a ralliart...
thanks for the input guys, and I will get back to thinking...
Ok several things wrong with this statement. First, you only plan to have two years with a car and then your going to college???? what are you going to do with the car? do you plan on going to a good college? HOw are you getting to college? are you paying for it or your parents? IF you have 22k to spend on a car and it is your first car why dont you man up, stop worrying about what others think and buy a beater and use the rest of that money to pay for school.

Second, what is this whipping a car your talking about???? Is that the terminology you kids use today for crashing? If so that is something not to brag about, and saying you crashed a car before you had your license and wanting another fast car just spells out darwin award.

makes sense right?

sith you make a lot of sense to
Ok now your starting to think.......yes buy a beater, learn how to drive, then get the car you originally wanted, thta's a good decision. But a slight miscalculation on your part. Most mitsu dealerships that i know of, dont really have cheap beaters. They have cars ranging from 10k and up, dealerships are supposed to have standards in the cars they sell so they need to have their cars in somewhat mechanically sound working order. Beaters are the cars you buy off friends, penny savers, or the little mom and pop's used car dealership where they will finance just about anybody no matter if you stabbed your irs agent for coming to your house.

THanks so much again.
YAYYYYYYYYYYYY you got smart!!!!! congrats!!! welcome to the surviving gene pool

the thing is like I said before, I am going to college in 2 years, and that isn't going to be enough time for me to save up money from buying a beater car (around 10-15k) then sell it, then get enough money back to get an evo...
I'm pretty sure I'm going to go straight for it...
and with that said obviously I won't have enough money for mods and fixes and ****...
so I will just have to drive safely and cautiously...
Also with the manual problem I guess I am going to have to get an auto, cause I can't be learning to drive stick and take the risk of crashing/ ****ing up the clutch...
so I guess my options are RA or evo MR...
I hope in 2 months I can find a nasty deal on one or the other...
thanks again guys, and you will be seeing me again soon.

EDIT- for whoever asked where I live, Millburn/Short Hills
L....M....A....O dude, a beater for 10-15k???? taht's not a beater, for a lot of people out there that is their daily driver to get them to work. Unless your loaded with cash, or mommy and daddy dont mind paying for your mistakes then that is only chump change... a beater is a car ....lesl than 5k, already has problems with it, but you just want a car cause it's your first car. And you dont want to learn to drive stick cause you will risk crashing your beater? Come on dude, that's what a beater is......it's a car you can just demolish and not care because in the end you will learn how to drive stick, how to drive a car, get some experience behind the wheel, know more or less how the traffic flowsi n your area, and if your scared about crashing your beater care then what the hell are you gonna do with a 30k evo??? just gaze up it in the parking lot??? man i thought you were getting smart

Ohhhhh lets hope if you get the evo, you will graduate

i guess I'll just try to get a really cheap one like around 1k and just learn to drive stick which hopefully only takes a couple months or so...
then i have alot more options on X's cause the gsr is much cheaper then the MR and I would even have left over $
FINALLY!!!!!! yayyyyyyyyy unravel the red carpet, spread the velvet rope, young grasshopper is making some common sense

2 places said no, one said come in and they will see what they can do.

Oh no.....just when i thought you couldn't do any thing dumber, you actually called car lots for this? The guy who told you to come in and see what you could do, in fact really is going to club you when you walk int he office, take you to the back , unleash the gimp and do you what they did in pulp fiction....seriously??? just buy a beater, beat the **** out of it .. have some FUN while doing it....cause that's what beaters are for, and then man up and buy your evo or use that money for school

the audi is a great sports car but the roblem with that car is similiar wit the clutch in an evo, except its the electrical system. Believe me i looked at those and loved the v8 and the handling is great but when something as simple as a window actuator goes out its just as much as replacing the clutch on an evo. So i say japanese cars ftw. dont get me wrong I love german engineering, my dad has an e63 and its amazing I just think japanese cars from an all around persppective have better reliability whether it be the engine or electrical system.

@Dick Morgan/Sticky Wolf. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Seriously. You honestly just made me laugh for 3 minutes...
I love how people get so emotional on this site...
I guess I should get a beater, but once I buy a 5k beater, how the **** am I going to make 5k back without a job?
when you think of something get back at me

@04EBevo- I love Audis, I love their looks and style. I honestly have never heard of terrible quality problems/reliability issues with Audi...
I have a Consumer report thingy and the Audi A4 is a top 3 luxury sedan, I don't think the S4 could be that far off since it's an upgrade of the A4...

Hey jack i also wanted an evo and i am currently 19 and have my evo. I learned to drive stick in a 90 AWD Eagle Talon TSI. You can find amazing deals on dsmsource.com for talons for like 2,500-4000 for stock with low miles. Its still a turbo car and awd and you can learn how to drive stick and not have to worry that much about it. The cars also sell very easy on the site i sold mine in 3 days and then went and picked up my evo from NJ.

hehe well dude i didnt know that much about manual before getting my car, i jut had my grandpa beside me teaching me. but i never broke my clutch or anything, i dont think i woulda have anyway, cause its just stalling and stalling its not burning it.
i was in a walmart parking lot when i learnt, the take off is the hardest i would always stall or give it way too much gas lol (tank was empty at the end of the day) and i had huge boots on( couldnt even feel the pedals right lol and i wasnt too happy! but thats how we learn, everybody learns someday i dont think you will ever break a cluth if you know the processus of shifting.
but if i were you id soooooooooo want a car for the money i have, i understand that you have alot but i did too its just that i thought about just starting my life with a baby evo and saving for university
but are you really in Mitsubishi or its just about some fast cars?!

@Cedes- I love mitus, I know it's hard to say since I have only gotten to really know about them for 3 months, but I am sure as soon as I drive one I will want it as my child.
