Lancer Evolution XI goes hybrid [merge]
meh, sounds like a techno-pig.
why cant they focus on making it lighter, and thus more fuel efficient. i dont get how adding 100lbs in batteries (presumably) plus a few handling nannies is going to improve the car.

I just don't understand how all these new concepts are looking more like a damn hatchback... The front is is nice, the back I just don't know...
However, I know it is still being worked who knows it might be one of the baddest evos yet...

i think the problem with the battery stuff is drains like craaazy when you start to push the car.. the electric r8 is sickeningly quick, but cant go past 124mph without draining the power like crazy, and then has to charge for a long time to get it running again.
I understand that's an electric car and this car will be a hybrid, but anyway i'm not so sure how good batteries are gonna be.. i guess we'll see how far the technology goes

For me, I'm 50/50 on if the hybrid/gas powertrain will be great. Like some have said, if it goes faster than previous models, than that's great.
It will be interesting to see how the aftermarket can do anything with the hybrid/gas powertrain. We all know a big part of the allure for the Evo is that it is so easily modded for huge gains...and the aftermarket is pretty vast.
I'm very interested in the new handling technologies. Those will be a welcomed addition.

the question is, what would oil prices be in 2013? i think this might dictate how people will look at it then.
seems like it would be hard to mod it
and that the best part of owning an evo for me

That may be the truth, but will other people be able to afford to do that? Evo's whole selling point is that you can extract cheap power out of them, if you have to spend a grip load of cash to balance power between each motor then that changes the whole point of evo's.
