i seriously, seriously doubt that the "2.0 liter MIVEC gas engine" will make the estimated 320hp without a turbo...my two pennies

Holy cow, they are actually evolving the Evo into a hybrid! I speculated about this last year:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/7643268-post7.html

Turns out, my speculation is becoming a reality... although the production car is going to have the gas engine drive the rear wheels, and the electric drivetrain runs the fronts instead...

SPOT ON! The next evo will be my next wet dream... I doubt I'll be able to afford it though in 2013, since the X still wouldn't be paid off yet.

I hybrid lancer yes. I hybrid Evo??? I hope its just speculation. Modding would just be a nightmare. This would also mean the end of traditional 3 pedal manual transmissions. I have yet to see a hybrid car offer a traditional manual. Not good for the modding industry. For me at 36 I will most likely stop modding and just buy fast.

You're right, a NA 4banger that would produce those power #'s could only be found at your local dragstrip. maybe if there were some very aggressive cams involved and some nitrous

I don't think I'll buy first rev. Probably wait a few and see how they do first.

Seems a lot more supercars are going this route. Porsche, Lamborghini, etc. All doing the hybrid route in a few years. They are doing the regular engine then having an electronic engine that adds xxx more horse. I'm just waiting until we're not using gas any more. But by then I'll probably be in a custom wheel chair (Advans please) drooling on my shoulder.

Hybrids can be a wonderful thing is used right. look at the new porsche gt3 with a similiar system to the kers but setup at the front wheels. Mitsu allready did a electric rally car but if they can get this working and people can figure out modding then it would be awesome and i will want 1. As of now for my driving habits and distance the only hybrid that would really help save much gas would be a volt. I only got about 5-7 mpg better driving a honda insight and a hybrid prius over driving my evo x since i only drive about 3 miles a trip with bad traffic the whole way.

evos are about AWD turbos and modding... this sounds nothing like that. It shouldn't even be badged XI, if they go this route they should create a new line for it

Evos are about pushing the bar, it just so happened that turbos and awd were what helped push the bar originally. I'm sure this car will still be AWD. I'm sure the car will still have good power. I'm sure we'll still be able to mod it (though it may take some time).

Everyone is going hybrid. Lotus, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, etc. I'd be thankful is going to be right there with them. I won't buy a first gen, or might not buy one at all. But I respect what they are attempting.

I never understood the point of gas saving super cars when they cost more money then you'll ever even spend on gas in your lifetime. If you have enough money to buy a exotic Porche why would you care if it saved gas lol...mind blowing oxymoron. Only rich pretentious people would actually buy gas saving super cars. There I said, dont shoot me.
