Sorry to say but I already have 1 of only 3, 04 EVOS I am getting and this is the build out already. I order my 05 Lancers next week. Because of some other mitsu issues production for the 04's was cut way short and as a result we will have our 05 models early.

Ok but can't they put that water vapor thingie some where else. I guess what I am trying to get at is the STi has their own version of SAYC without emission problems so why can't Mitsu do the same.

I'd like to know the reason too. If you ever find out, let me know.

Probably because the current chassis was never designed with US emissions in mind, so when the time came to produce the 8 for the states, the budget only allowed for a band aid approach to get the car to work over here. So, SAYC was a necessary casualty. Just be glad the friggin' car is comin'.

I was told it was the ACD controlller being in the way of the canister and the AYC was haulted due to a concern that the service department may have differculties repairing the electronic rear diffs.

When the dealers are being trained for S-AYC we'll know it's coming or not

Will the USDM evo mr's have the all-black wings? I kind of liked the evo 8 wing because it was colored on hte sides. Oh, and anyone have pics of the new white color? Sound interesting...

Darkchild, GPTourer, and gtr all have some good info here. I have nothing to add to that but wanted to say that I wholeheartedly agree that it is really disappointing to hear so little concern over us not getting SAYC. Personally, I would trade a lot of other things for the SAYC...at least with what I know of it thus far. I was given a link to an English site that was supposed to point me to lots of Brits ranting about how terrible it was. Looked all over the site that was stickied and couldn't find anyone saying it sucked and they wish they didn't have it. I really have little to no hope that we'll get it (pretty much resigned to that fate already) but I think it's sad. At least the above posts seem to point to a certain rationale WHY we aren't getting it.

If you think about it, it seems Mitsu techs here in the USA are having enough trouble with the Evo. Even simply warranty claims don't seem to be done correctly - if they can't get the simple stuff right, I'd be afraid of letting them touch the electronic stuff.

The thing with the AYC diff is that when something goes wrong then it won't be cheap, and if it does break then it usually ends up taking the casing with it resulting in an expensive fix.
Also some of the drivers don't like the feel of it at the limit as they feel the rear end is doing something they arn't telling it to do.
The weakness is and maintenance issues are probably why mitisi US didn't want to put it in.

Probably won't be a "fix" at all, just one part number for the whole thing. Something goes wrong? Pull it out and slap a new one in. Just like the 3KGT VR4's Getrag 6 speed. Non servicable by a Mitsu service dept.

Prove all what people wrong? The thread was started by a guy who took pictures of a development mule. You think those are some sort of photochop? Everybody else has been eager to hear more, only a couple of "experts" spout lame theories about headlamps and decals. You think I pulled those specs and color names out of my ***?

Throwing the old diff and replacing it with a new one is pretty much the fix, while with the RS diff if something goes wrong then you can pull it apart and replace whats broken.

Has this info been posted yet? If so, please ignor.

For '05 base Evos will receive 276hp and ~280lb/ft torque.
All will get the front LSD.
The RS and the MR get the aluminum roof with the spoiler, canards or whatever.
ACD is standard on all Evos.
I guess the regular Evo retains the steel roof so the sunroof must still be available.
Any new on titanium turbos? Rumors from magazines has suggested 10 more hp for the MR. If this is true does that mean the MR will have the titanium turbos with the larger housing? When is 05 coming
