Evolution MR - Mitsubishi Racing [MERGED]
Guys, it's all good...
First off, thanks for the pics... if there are other cool cars to show maybe we should start a new forum in general for the '04 NYC show.
And guys, why would
have a pic on their site and say the MR is coming to North America in the Fall?
Simple... it is.
Also, Subaru is changing the WRX and STi suspension, DCCD, etc. and there was nothing of it at the show as well.
Maybe the NYC autoshow isn't all that... or, specs aren't finallized for either company and they don't want to commit.
But the MR is coming... BEWARE
.
Oh yes, it will be mine.

Here you go sonny....
Oh yeah, that pic and "blurb" announces it's release..
It's obvious that the IT guy got word that it is perhaps coming and put a "teaser" up to gain interest...build interest..I mean, lookit us fer cryin out.
If a car is announced to arrive for ANY manufacturer, especially
and the notoriety of the EVO model being what it is....This pic and blurb on the mitsu page ain't **** but planting the seed for an official announcment that may come later..
Like I said, whoever posts the news release first will be my hero and avatar..
That release will end all rumors..
We await.....
patiently...
Look at the kind of info you can find at Subby forums

04 Evo's pushed back/400 hp Evo coming
Just spoke with my friend at the dealer and he heard directly from Mistubishi today so this should clear up a few rumors. They will be making 6500 Evo's for 04, 1600 of which will be the RS edition which is the stripped down, lighter and a little quicker version. The 04's were supposed to be hitting dealers in a month or two but due to some dealers still having a good amount of 03's remaining, Mitsu has pushed back release of the 04's to October.
Still no word on the MR edition making it to the US but Mitsu did confirm what Speed magazine reported. They will be releasing a limited edition HKS Rally-spec Evo that will put out near 400 hp
Since Mitsu pulled out of the SCCA rallies this year, the race engines were left over so now they will have a home in these special edition Evo's. They will have to do some trim work to make them street legal but it shouldn't be too difficult and if all goes well, we can expect to see them later on this year.

yeah but what he said about the HKS Evo is basically word for word from Speed magazine. So he is not making it up just saying what the magazine said. now will hks evos ACTUALLY be available for sale is another story.
Aren't 04s already on the dealer lots. granted some 03s are probably still there too and will probably have to be given away over the next 90 days, but if 04s got pushed back until october.. do they expect to continue the trend of selling cars later and later? I don't think they are that clueless to damage the Evo sellability. Maybe they won't start selling the 2005 Evo until March of 2006! Then hopefully the 2006 Evo IX in June of 2008!
t's pretty easy to see they have some inventory they need to move. They aren't going to announce anything till that moves along. Once the majority of Evo buyers who aren't fanatics pick up their Evos and levels are at a point Mitsu is happy with they will announce the MR. It just takes time.
The announcement isn't going to make it show up any sooner. Patience..

Yep, you're right. I think patience is the key.
Yes, a news release would remove all doubt, but
has definitely gone beyond the trial balloon with having several independent mags as well as their web site saying the MR is coming.

Had to get a state inspection sticker, and my Mitsu dealer is the closest garage, so I went on in today.
Brought a printout of the press blurb from the MMNA website and asked the GM if there's any truth to it. He said he hadn't heard anything of it as of yet, though he said it wouldn't surprise him if it were to occur. The regional will be visiting him in 9 days and he told me I should stop by during lunchtime that day to meet her and discuss the MR. So in 9 days time maybe I'll have some confirmation on what's coming down the pike.
He said if an MR is due out in fall, he'll gladly sell me one for MSRP, and reminded me I have a $3500 loyalty bonus sitting out there as well.

What $3500 loyalty bonus?
I think it is only $500 for EVO right now.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Mitsubishi's retention policy for lessees right now is to throw 6 months of lease payments in the trash. For me this works out to about $2500.
The Loyalty Bonus is $1000 around here, and even though it does exclude the Evolution, my car is pretty badly keyed up -- we're looking at the hood, entire driver's side, passenger side door and rear bumper being completely repainted. Though the GM said he'd gladly look past all that paintwork if I went with another Mitsubishi and don't flee to the Audi or BMW camp.
So it's really only a normal $2500 Mitsu incentive, but if I consider how much I'd be paying if I turn in the Eclipse with that egregious keyjob, it works out to about $3500.
