Evolution MR - Mitsubishi Racing [MERGED]
No worries. Then an AWD, naturally aspirated Lancer to compete with the WRX. Sounds good to me
.
And yeah, not only does Toyota focus on the money making vehicles, they have the art of making Lexus-quality interiors and the lowest defect vehicles down to a science.
But exciting cars they do not make. The biggest problem facing Toyota is that the average age of their buyer is in the 30-40 bracket. Hence Scion... which I think has a bigger embrace by adults then by the targeted buyer in their 20s.
Plus, no one buys Toyota because they perform...
.
is in an interesting position to define itself as an enthusiast brand, kind of like BMW of yore... which does make great handling sedans, but now has all that blue chip prestige-Bullsh#te associated with it... i.e. $$$$
. Let alone all this electric gizmo garbage... maybe Alpha Romaeo is a better comparison?
Come on
, take the bull by the horns and show these chumps what a great handling car is... bring the MR.... and that the true worth of the car is not the badge but what it does.

A car released in Oct 04 would be a 05. The build dates for Evos just don't match up very well with the US EPA MY cut off dates.

Looks are the same and its lighter. Its got beefed up HP numbers and the ACD and six speed. I mean the STI has the ACD and 6 six speed and dont mean much when comparing it the EVO. i mean as a daily driver you really going to notice these changes. imean from peoples responses i would think the MR was like a 500hp redesigned body etc... but its not. I mean i was reading a thread about someone doing a new gauge cluster. and someone responded, "yeah looks cool but wait till the MRs comes out!" LOL. I mean I have happy with my EVO dont really care what comes out next. With future turbo upgrades, Coilovers on my EVO and whoever decides this upgrades path will be untouchable. I just think the EVO General Forum is a mess. They should create a new forum. FUTURE OF MISTUBUSHI or something so i dont have to shift through this junk. Seriously i hope the car does come here that way parts for us EVO owners will go down in price
hopefully!

The ACD is more rear biased in tarmac mode than 50:50. In gravel it is close to 50:50. In snow mode it is very front wheel biased. This really is an over simplification since each mode is really a program for the intended surface not just a ratio change like the Sti.
The K1 and K2 upgrades for the ACD ECU change all the modes.
A good AYC system Overview

5 stages of dealing with crisis.
Brief lesson in human psychology.
5 stages of dealing with crisis.
The reality: THE MR IS NOT COMING TO OUR SHORES, NOT THIS YEAR AT LEAST.
Stage One: Denial.
No, it is. Their website said so.
Stage Two: Anger and Blame.
You liars. Those stupid Mitsu japs!
Stage Three: Bargaining.
Please, please bring it over. We got the petition going.
Stage Four: Depression.
It's not coming! Now I'm stuck with my 270 hp, car of the year , rally inspired lancer evolution VIII. Oh, God, why!!
Stage Five: Acceptance.
Oh well. I mean come on, who actually is going to feel 6lbs difference in the roof unless you had popped X and smoked a reefer. The new 6MT is mushy. Everything else turbo, shocks is upgradeable.
So which stage are you stuck on?

The one thing that Mitsu has is either the youngest or second youngest average buyer of all US market autos. The other company vying for first place is VW. All the other companies want to go after the younger buyers. Most attempts have failed. PT Cruiser, Scion, Honda Element, Focus SVT.
If Mistu wants to be the new younger BMW they can pull it off. Subaru is trying the same thing BTW. The new Legacy will be the big test for there move into the BIG leagues.
A full line of Evolutions like the rest of the world would be a good place to start. Shogun Evolutions exist elsewhere sell them here. Push the Rally and Rally Raid angle. Mitsu has been creating great performance cars for a while. Just have to inform the public.

There has been lots of rumors that the VIII is the last Lancer based Evo, and that Mitsu would move on to the Colt for the new Evo's. It's really all still up in the air right now, but it is likely that we'll see at least one or two more Evo's based on the Lancer before the Colt takes over.
