Evolution MR - Mitsubishi Racing [MERGED]
EVO MR blip
Just got my latest R&T. Not the new Speed mag that had the original story but the regular Road and Track. They stated that it will come out here in the US. Could still be crap but here's what they wrote.
" EVO MR: Sets new standard- again. Forget about Mitsu's Lancer Evo. Why? Because that's exactly what you will do after you drive the new Evo MR. You want numbers? How about 0-60 in 4.3, 0.98g on the skidpad and 70.8 mph through the slalom......snipped details on 300lb weight loss. The last line of the little blurb says The MR should arrive in the US late this year, for about $33,000. See the inaugural issue of R&T Speed for our exlusive full road test. "
They seem pretty confident the MR is coming out. I hope it's true. That would be friggin awesome. In case any one else cares they also show pics and talk about the new Porsche Boxster Coupe coming out. Looks kind of cool actually.

I think it sucks for those who already own one or recently got one. Heck it's still pretty much rumor until I see hard evidence. I only hope it's true because I am without Evo right now.
This thing has been beat to death in other threads. I'd like an MR, but keep this in mind: Is it worth taking a depreciation beating on trading in your Evo for an MR? It's not worth it to me....
Chris in HB we are on the same page definately. Trading in your EVO is not worth it. 33 grand plus taxes ouch. People are selling their EVos left and right now because they jumped the gun and cant afford wait till the MR comes out LOL. MRs resale if it comes out here should drop like a rock LOL. Dont really see the big deal. But i guess marketing execs have someone of you pin pointed LOL.
I am definitely getting an MR if it comes over here, only if I can get one at MSRP though. I drove the Evo8, STi, and R32, like the Evo the best for my needs. (all are damn nice cars though, I am very excited with the current $30k car offerings!!)
I recently read about the evo mr's coming into us, and I just had one question. What is the difference between mr gsr and mr rs (or rs2). Which one of the two are we getting? Whatever the difference is, it seems like gsr is more expensive than rs...
RS - usually no AYC, maybe ACD (don't remember), no Brembo, no ABS, 5MT instead of 6MT.
Of course, since none of our Evos have AYC/ACD, our RS is essentially a GSR with some weight savings and without ABS. It even comes with the Brembos, doesn't even give you an option... oh well.
I assume if the MR gets here, it will be sold as a "GSR" (whatever that may encompass), without an equivalent RS. But who knows, it's all speculation anyway...
