Our Tax Dollars at Work .

I feel really bad for all those old timers being ripped-off by Ford MoCo. Those bastards...
Where's Robin Hood when you need him?

Well here's some MR related facts/news...

Some MR specs to date...

1. JDM MR RS (per SPEED article) - 285bhp @ 6500rpm and 295lb-ft of torque @ 3500rpm
2. UK Evo MR FQ-320 - 326.1bhp @ 6600rpm, 305lb-ft torque @ 6600rpm
3. UK Evo MR FQ-340 - 342bhp @ 6843rpm, 309lb-ft torque @ 5000rpm

And here's two web sites to wet you wistle for the new MR - the UK Mitsu Site and the official Japanese MR release, which documents the changes nicely:

http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/evolution/
http://www.nmd.com.au/news2/news_detail.cfm?ID=1131

It's likely the US MR will be in the 300bhp range, maybe higher for bragging rights against the STi. Torque will likely the same as the MR tested in SPEED.

Hope this helps .

I hope this helps. The current Evolution which is available in the usa is a 2003 model year that went on sale in Jan 2003. The 2004 evolution will not be sold in the united states till june at the earliest. The RS edition is a 2004 model available in a few months. This will be a truly limited edition as there will be only 700 examples to speak of. That means mitsubishi is banking on the success of the RS to introduce another limited production model, the MR a few months later. The MR that I want like everyone on this thread wants, is a 2005 model which will be available late 2004 [somewhere in the neighborhood of November or December]. A blurp about the MR is in the newest Motor Trend magazine - June 2004.

I kinda think the RS is useless. People buy the evo for the competition against the STi, not so that we can have a barebones racer. RS's are bought by "go fast" people. Not by people like us really.

I have seen an RS on the street in New Jersey a few days ago, so I guess they are available now?

'04 Evo GSRs and RSs will be out by the end of the month. The RS is likely an example for the auto journals to test. Car and Driver are driving an '04 GSR now.

Anyone else see the new Road & Track sayin the MR will be availible in the US late this year for around $33K? It also said that sometime, mitsu might bring over that lil hatchback evo thing they are building (evo mini?) that is awd with 250 hp. Please God let this all be true!!

Aight dude, sorry I'm not as up to date. At college and don't see many magazines, it was in the latest issue of R&T so I figured it was rather new. Chill out, just be happy it's comin.

The new wastegate helps to maintain better response.

No LHD MRs to date.

1986 good times, good beer.

The air valve responds quicker so that the whole sysytem can work faster and more accurately. It can follow the boost ramp up more closely and still be safe. The wastegate itself is not new just the solenoid controled air valve.

I don't believe any LHD Evo VIIIs were made other than the USDM VIIIs. The pattern for some time seems to be, JDM GSRs and RSs first. Then RS-II in RHD then some RS-II LHDs. The VIII broke that pattern by going JDM GSR, JDM RS then USDM RS-II/GSR Hybrid, then UK GSRs with no other LHD being built.

Around 10K evo VIIIs were produced. If the MR is anything like the Evo 6.5 (the MR being the Evo 8.5) then 5K should be produced worldwide.

I forgot - what were the exact differences between a GSR and RS-II? Was it the RS shell?

An RSII is an RS with GSR bits thrown at it, so you end up with a lighter GSR.
It just loses some stuff like auto climate control etc, but it still has ABS AYC etc.
