there probably won't be many updates on here... I do some alternative racing if you know what I mean and I can't talk about it on this forum. I've been steadily posting vids on www.racevideoforums.com so you'll have to go over there to see the latest.

Right now I'm saving up for a built short block for my Stealth to get it back on the road since it finally spun a bearing after 155k miles on the stock cast crank/bottom end from 1991 after it's been over 550awhp on pump gas forever and it's seen some 35psi 650awhp+ runs on c16.

Once I get it back on the road I'll start saving for the Buschur built 2.0l shorty and heads. Then I'll install the meth kit and see what it'll do.

so it's going to be awhile

well I got bored and decided to try a few new things...more boost and 1* less timing. I'm at 28-29psi peak now, up from 27-28psi.

new best DLL

Chris,
I know this may be a stupid question but how much of a difference is the 35R from a 50 trim?

If I may try and answer this for you coming from my SR20DET background...

The difference is like a Great Dane and a poodle standing side by side... The Great Dane outdoes everything the poodle even attempts to do... Barks louder, runs faster, craps more gas, and eats a ton more fuel (food)...

I am torn, I want the lower end spool that the 50 trim has but I want the power of the 35R. Any ideas?
And is it true that there is a top speed limiter on the evo and if so is there a way to remove it?

if you want the power of the 35R, get the 35R I haven't seen a 50 trim do 500 on 93 octane via DLL

yes there is a speed limiter but I doubt you'll hit it with a USDM ecu although I've seen it set very low on some JDM cars and I can effectively disable it with a tune.

ok, I'm tired of spinning my *** off through first gear and getting pathetic 60's on the street. My plan is to limit boost to wastegate (20psi) in first gear. I looking for a Greddy Profec B Spec II to replace my manual boost controller and I'm going to get the remote switch that mounts to the steering wheel to change boost at the touch of a button.

so, I'll take off on low boost which will be wastegate and hopefully find traction in first gear, shift to 2nd and hit the high boost button.

there are some EBC's out there that control boost based on your gear or time but they are very complicated and expensive. I figure this is the next best thing and I like to keep it as simple as possible.

I guess I need to go set the car to wastegate boost and make sure I have traction before I buy all of this but I'm pretty sure it's going to help since 20psi is going to limit me to ~400awhp instead of 28psi and ~500awhp. With the evogreen and ~400awhp I didn't have much trouble with traction if I remember correctly. I'm just tired of these 1.9-2.0 60's on average and desperately want to get back down to 1.65-1.75's consistently and quit throwing away 2-3 tenths or a few car lenghts in the 1/4 every time.

I went out and did some test runs on wastegate vs full boost and the 60' was 1.80 and 2.0 respectively. The car spun uncontrollably on full boost whereas with wastegate boost it still spun but it wasn't riding the rev limiter at all which makes it much easier to determine when it's time to shift. I think this will help me be much more consistent and that's the key to winning races. Also this might be nice on the road course where I don't want 500awhp in the twisies but it would be nice on the front straight to get around cars.

I suspect that the wastegate 1.80 might even improve with the profec b spec II since I'll be at wastegate in first to get traction then switch to full boost in 2nd

Chris,
Thanks, the thing is I wanted to know if there is something in the middle that has the best of both worlds? I dont have to have the raw power of the 35R or the very fast spool of the 50 trim. I would like a happy medium, if there is one. Do you have any sugestions?

that's something you'll have to figure out for yourself really. ask yourself a few questions and do some research and talk to bushur or ets about something that meets your requirments as they have load of real world experience with turbos.

what's laggy? 3500, 4500, 5500 full boost?
will I run pump gas, race gas or meth?
what's the horsepower goal for each fuel type?
what type of racing do I do? drag, roll, autox, road course

there's probably more to consider but that's all that comes to mine at the moment.

I Guess that I am thinking that anything over 4000 is a bit laggy, but then again I am use to the 20G. I am only running pump gas, well thus far. I am considering time attack, so I will need the lower rpm boost but as much power as I can get.
That is a good idea, I will call Buschur on Monday and get thier opnion.
Thanks guys.

if 4000 is laggy then you need to stick with what you have because it's at 3500
