update with the new turbo build......

i got all my gaskets and other things as well for the turbo itself. now all i need is about 5 feet of stainless steel pipe and some tial flanges and gaskets. but with those flanges and gaskets i might be able to make the flanges in my cnc class and then just to get the gaskets and im set to put it all together and swap turbos.

Are you trying to build turbo headers and selling them as well?

still looking into the turbo header situation don't know if I should go custom or just buy it from people here

well....

someday i do plan on prolly making some, but the whole reason ive put it into solidworks is because thats what i majored in school and have a bs degree in it as well, so i like to mess around with things like that there. plus i also have to add a spot for an external wastegate since i welded the stock one shut, and i wasnt going to spend another $200 or so on a factory looking wastegate when i already have this nice looking external one.

if your lookin for the manifold talk to chele here on the forums. got me an amazing deal on the mani that im workin on in solidworks for my needs.

as soon as i get my evo turbo on i will be selling the one i have now. right now i have the evo 3 big 16g (dsm turbo), rrm mani, and rrm o2 dump. which it will all be sold together *hopefully* for significantly less than what i paid for it.

well I have talked to him before about it but it really doesnt look that hard to make one, 275 is a good deal but the fact that maybe I could get one made for more and get a warranty on it then that would be sweet, or spend 100 on a 4g63 manifold and weld a G94 flange to and widen the runners looks fairly easy. Plus I have welded in high school so it doesnt look that hard to do it.

its harder than it looks to make one trust me. you need some precise jigs for everythng to sit straight and flush w/e. as for warrantyies with manifolds they're not really there. my rrm header has been on for a little over a year when i contacted rrm about it and they said since i didnt buy their kit they couldnt do anything about it. thing that pissed me off the most was that it was a $500 mani i bought from them and i spent $3000 eith them that day and they couldnt do anything about it.

all tubular mani's have a good and probable chance of cracking unless its supported correctly. and even then its not a total for sure it wont crack.

as for the g63 mani with a 94 flange.....i would just purchase one made for our cars, its going to be easier in the long run.

update....

i should have my new evo 8 turbo on in the next 2 weeks or so. just got my tial flanges and gaskets today from scott down at ams performance, so now its onto getting some pipe, bending and cutting and welding to make it fit on the manifold.

also if anyone is looking for a greddy gauge, greddy themselves i think still have a few left for 60%off their normal price. heres the link....

greddy gauges on ebay

went down to the local welding shop today looking for some scrap stainless so i can finish my external wastegate on my evo 8 turbo mani from chele. kinda did a test fit so to speak and its not going to be as easy as what i thought, but thats all part of a custom build. so i cant do any welding or cutting until i get my turbo off an d the new evo one on.

so I see you have a 399 maf... I thought you need a 501 with the evo 8 ecu or does it matter?

ok so i now have some new issues and im not even thinking about the evo ecu right now. here are some pics of what i mean:

whne i had to put in a new trans i went with the 04 over a stock 03 because it was a little bit more but it had way less miles on it. well mitsu changed the slave cylinder to an external one, not like the internal one on the 03 trans. as you can see here is that the turbo almost lines up with the clave cylinder causing me NOT to be able to do my turbo swap as of now.

i knew that the turbo was "close" to the upper rad hose but i didnt think that it was that close to the block and in which it was almost resting on the block.

back to solidworks and the drawing board to design one that works.

ok so im still a little ticked about the new turbo not going in right, but hey its back to the drawing board.

anywho i was for some odd reason able to pull the rom off of the evo8 ecu today, and i did it on v1.42 which was giving me the most difficulties to begin with. oh well now its time to tune it out and drop it in.

what have others used to find the best results in editing the .xml file? ive heard a few but not sure what really works.
