Nice cars....ir is a v8 though, so I guess I am not quite as impressed....still impressed though. That stupid hyndai logo drops the value of a car by several grand imo. Genesis coupe would be bad *** if not for it.

Love flat black.....want flat black lancer....now

So... I went out to and did a little logging tonight. Trying to get some shift knock. Surprisingly it wasnt nearly as bad as I remember it. I can shift fairly fast without any shift knock as long as I slip the clutch just a little. The less I slip the clutch when I fast shift the more shift knock I see. I am pretty sure my current torque engine mounts are toast. This is leading me to believe this is being caused from the engine slamming from torque when I dont give it any kind of cushion from the clutch. I am going to buy the urethane and fill the mounts I have sitting ready to go on my work bench and then retest before I actually change anything in this tune.

Another thing I did was pay close attention to my boost gauge while I pulled in third. No boost taper at all according to my gauge. When I punch it it shoots straight to 14 pounds and doesnt move, I hit the rev cut at 6250 and it stayed at 14 all the way through. Dunno if thats normal or not considering we do have a pretty low redline compared to say... an evo.

My boost stays constant in every gear throughout all acceleration

Mine increases......booya! Staying constant is normal though, until the compressor can't keep up. If you guys were running 23+psi from what I gather, in the 6k range it would start to fall off, just from what some of those evo graphs look like....what we run, we can stick it right where we want it and leave it. Even 30psi we probably wouldn't see taper with such a low redline.

I'm going to eventually, when I can buy a truck, try to do some pistons/rods and valvetrain work to get where I can rev to 7k or 7.5k....way down the line though, year or 2.

So, I like what I hear about your shift knock, and I know what you are saying is probably true. I filled just 1 of my mounts, and it helped me with my, I guess it's called "wheel hop". Going to fill the other was well in the near future. One thing I saw was several people said "well now I have this knock after replacing my motor mounts" and they ended up solving it with washers on each side since the bolt/mount/bracket all sort of rattled around together during shift...so I guess take note of that while you're in there. I think I overfilled mine a bit, so the cushioning pokes out some and keeps it from making noise. cleaver mistake I guess.

Thanks for the tip I will keep that in mind. Next check Im buying that urethane. I think it will fix a couple other little annoyances I have as well. I have heard of some saying there knock count (not shift knock) went up when they installed their mounts. Hoping this is not the case with me

depending on the wastegate the stock evo wastegates taper off I think around 3 psi, so goes to 16-18 then drops off around 3 pounds from the high rev shifts.

It also depends on how your wastegate is set up and since the forge actuators and oem evo actuators are adjustable
My car holds 10 Psi threw out the power band and in every gear .
I also rev mine to 6700 .

I have always thought the lancer would look tight as hell in flat black, just never been much of a "looks" kind of person.

6700 rpm eh? with stock valvetrain, stock bottom end, stock...well, everything, yes?

What do you rev to 03lances?

Also, don't you fellas who have 10psi to redline want to buy a gm 3port and run 10psi up to 4krpm, then 12 at 5k and 14 by 6k? makes your torque curve sit nice and flat all the way across.

All you need to do it, is the 3 port, the pigtail, and an evo's ecu (since ours doesn't ground properly).

You'll have to post some pics when you get it done.

Im am playing it safe I have it cut off at 6250. So am I correct when I heard you were able to control the boost separately per gear with this setup or no? That would be sick and well worth it for me. like 1st gear@5psi 2nd gear@7psi then 3rd on up 14psi. I am really getting tired of spinning my tires (never thought Id EVER say that!!!). Its not a simple matter of pedal control either, in first and second the power curve is so sudden its impossible to keep from spinning if its wet out at all (pacific northwest=rain rain rain). If im really careful I can get a good pull in second without spinning if its bone dry out.

So basically if I could drop the boost alot in those first couple gears that would do wonders for my tires life

Yup stock everything going to 6700 , I've been doing it for a while now !

Also quick tip on spinning the tires!
Get good tires
I used to spin all first and second until i picked up some very sticky street tires and now i only spin a little bit of first !

That makes me firmly believe that 7500 rpm isn't out of reach of these engines.

You have an oil pressure gauge? can you report the oil pressure as the rpm reaches maximum under load? Looking to see if oil pressure falls off or slightly lower at some point.
