02 Lancer ES Turbo Project
speedcorps
probably heat wrap, everything is really tight I will take pics saturday suppose to rain again tomorrow
I tried to heatwrap my coolant line it worked for maybe a couple weeks but when I took off the wrap you could see it was toast where it was touching. I don't know if you meant wrapping the manifold I heard its not a good idea but I haven't done it so I couldn't say for sure.
huh and i thought speedcorps said that they were gonna fix that upper radiator hose problem and i dont think wraping the manifold would be a prob unless they did a ****ty job making the manifold, i have my megan manifold wraped for about a year now and havent had a problem with it and ppl seem to bash the quality of megan

our manifolds are not $hitty quality , given the fact of to make it easier it designed to use the evo turbo, downpipe, intakes etc it is designed that way for a reason , simply to make it easier and cheaper for you guys to install it....
the fact that it is an issue with the piping close to the header has been discussed , yet we sell so few of these manifolds that to actually make a large quantity of stainless radiator hoses would be a waste of time and money, however they are available as a custom made part if needed
heat wrapping is not a good idea on any manifold or exhaust pipe, when there is moisture in the air on a humid or rainy day the moisture that gets to the heat wrap when cool will soak in and sit directly on the metal as the manifold gets hotter the moisture will burn off and the minerals in the water will etch the surface of the metal piping ,
that combined with air will cause oxidation and metal weakening , go ahead and pull the wrap off a manifold thats been wrapped for years , it will be covered in oxidation, when I apprenticed in a motorcycle shop back in the day the head shop mechanic told us we where to clean the pipes and re-wrap the exhaust at least once every 2 seasons and this is standard among the industry even with $1500 stainless steel race bike exhaust systems

Well I'm happy with my manifold thanks to speed corps!!! so im heading to the shop tomorrow to finish the car so let's hope all goes well more pics will be posted tomorrow depending on what time I get back I cannot wait to drive her tomorrow
well im at the shop working on the car everything is pretty much bolted up, all I hve left is the oil pan to be tapped and welded, and just get my downpipe and test pipe fitted and im good to go. So once again the car will be finished tomorrow I will post pics up tonight, and when the car is done I will post up pics with the car finished
What??
an oil pump that can't handle a pure oil, synthetic??
An oil pump is just a set of interlocking gears. There isn't a fluid it can't pump..
The seals bit is garbage too unless your seals are broken switching fluids will do nothing. I've had cars which i switched out the fluid back and forth every month and no side effects. If you got a leak switching to synthetic its only because synthetic has superior cold condition properties nothing more. The only real difference between synthetic and natural oils is molecule uniformity.
Natural oils have less uniform structures which make them worse at providing lubrication in some instances like temp resistance, sheer strength, and a few more. As a result synthetic oils tend too look more runny because all the molecules have the same properties the true nature of 10-30w is revealed.

Oh and i should mention in an evo synthetic is required because of engine tolerances for the reason of molecule uniformity.

The whole story behind that "Rob said oil XXX" thing is a little deeper than that. He recomended Castroil. Wonder why? Remember his Ralliart was on that Castroil Syntec commercial? At that time period when all that went down RRM was in bed with Castroil (Or whatever theyre called) A motor isnt going to die because of synthetic oil. Lack of oil, yes.
Besides, the guy came back on Evom.net and stated he popped his engine because he upped the boost too much.
MYTH BUSTED!!!
