+1 with roadspike, I don't think you have all the folders necessary in order to read the rom, have you copied senates folders for all files needed to copy and read roms?

With the 1.42 I'm not getting anymore errors on the screen anymore but it still doesn't read.

Steven - I downloaded all of Senate's definition files and put them on the lancer folder.

I'm going to download RS read template, and hope that works. I remember reading somewhere that the 04-05 lancers have a different reading method or something like that so I'm guessing thats what it is.

Just the read templates that come in ECU flash should be enough to read the rom off of the car....not necessarily to like, edit it and what not, that's what those specific XML files from senate, etc etc are. Also, your car is a manual right? If so, I don't think you need to use RS's to get 512, since the rom is only 256kb. Try with a fresh install to read the rom off the car, no customizations or added xml's....tell us what's the path of your rom metadata also?

Blank "Choose car ecu type" screen means the read templates aren't loaded properly...so make sure the rommetadata folder has read templates in there.

Maybe "Run-As-Administrator"...sometimes if you're a non admin, and it's like, not able to access certain folders or something, it might not load.

my car's auto so I need the 512. the rom metdata is set up so that it reads off the lancer folder in OPENecu (openecu/ecuflash/rommetadata/mitsubishi/lancer).

I just noticed that my ROM file directory in ecuflash has the same path, should this one be to readtemplates??

I have the level set up for administrator.

I will see in a little bit when I go for lunch and see if it works.

yeah I copied it over. I'm not getting any errors on the home screen anymore but it still won't read my ecu.

I also unzip your file and placed in the read templates.

It must not be reading from that directory or has a permission issue since it shows nothing. I'm not sure what to do to make it read from the right location it could be trying to read from virtual storage instead of the programs directory.

The home screen should tell you where its scanning from in 1.42

its scanning from the right folder but I just checked the permissions and it wasn't sharing. I just switched it to sharing and am going outside to try it. Wish me luck!!!

I know I made it huge but I did so that you could read what it said on the screen.

If it helps you at all I have Windows 7 (starter)

Well its definitely the wrong place it should be a couple directories down in rometadata it scans from not the lancer folder. Its going to expect folders in there for reading templates and there wont be any.

Change the path to rometadata and it should work.

alright RS, so it tried to read the ECU. It gave me the menu to choose what type of car it was but it didn't read the ECU. It kept trying to do kernel mode instead of the kernelocp like it supppose to do for my car.

I put the xml file you gave me in the read template folder and I transferred the evo 7 xml file to the lancer folder. What am I missing.

did you setyour rom meta folder to the correct address?

here is where mine is located

C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata

so it should work for you and you downloaded the latest ecu flash program

edit** set your user level to developer
