Oh Look another Turbo Thread - RyanCB's turn.
mine use to look lower.. ill find a pic (custom made ones to..)
my old t3 setup.. and joe custom 16g setup.. both hang low and thats as high we we couldbuild them
i use to scrap on alot of things... the tube isnt even round anymore, its oblonged.. i actually still have it in my basement just so i can laugh at it everyonce and a while

Just thought I would post what 03 posted in his thread for all here as well.

Ryan came down today for a tuning session. Was having some bad idle dips and stalling issues so we got those straightened out. Still probably need a little more adjusting at idle but getting much better. Anybody running the tial 38mm wg? We found that with his mbc installed it bumps his psi up by like 7 pounds!!! We put the 7 pound spring in and bypassed the mbc we hit 7 psi flat and held. install mbc turned all the way down, instant 14psi. Swapped my mbc in and instant 12 psi. With my 10# spring on my car I hold 10 steady with no mbc. Installed his mbc and went up to 12.
All in all pretty productive day we have a really good start at 7psi no knock. Its pulling pretty good but the timing is dipping way down around peak torque despite my numbers in the map, not sure whats going on there but will have to work on that. We have to find him a nice road like mine up where he lives so he can do runs and continue tuning . Also found the load was going through the roof causing massive knock count when hitting 14psi even though engine wasnt pulling. As soon as we got it to 7psi started pulling and load dropped from 200+ to about 150 at peak.

So still havent reinstalled my MBC but I think it is the spring in it is meant for higher boost apps. Hence why it shot us to 14psi with a 7lb spring. I think I am going to hold off installing it as we hadnt finished tuning for 12psi and I really can tell a difference since we pulled some timing trying to smooth out some false knock. Forgot to mention we got lucky Friday as right as I was about to step on it we noticed a car coming from the other end and turned out to be a cop which ended our tuning for the night. That wouldnt have gone well as I had a ticket a couple months ago that goes to court this week. Id like to keep my record clean haha.. Also think i need to replace the shim on the magnetic clutch for ac as it only seems to come on when the car is cold. Then once it reliable is coming on/off fix the tune so car doesnt try to die with it on and take it in to get fully drained/filled.

Update, I am amazed RRM refunded me for the Turbo, granted it took a few calls/emails it was overall painless. UPS however was dicks... They started the damage claim picked it up. Got it all the way to RRMs hub, then turned around and sent it back to me since they denied the damage claim. By the time it got back the box was trashed and had holes in it. Amazing! I turned around took it back to the UPS store and had them box it in a box and sent it back. Ended up costing me $30 but its resolved. Latest settings 03 sent me to work on idle seem to be better. Still dips but still hasnt stalled again. Injectors are scalled at 790! which seems pretty damn good. Guess the cleaning and modding paid off on it.
Oh does anyone read this thread any more haha? Or am I talking 2 myself.

Dude, we read your thread, then we post our responses in 03lances...what about that doesn't make sense to you!?!
Also, as a side note, I am really most curious about when you get to say...15psi, then comparing that to 20psi, 25psi, etc...because I've seen lots of things about different engines having good spots where they respond well, then all the sudden just sort of not making anymore power, even if you increase boost. I want to know limits. Also, you don't have a turbo cam, aye?, just stock right?

I have the RRM Stage 1 cam which prob just lets a little more air in from when we looked at it compared 2 stock. I know just not feeling the love ha-ha jk. One thing that i must say the RRM mani compared to the Speed corps the exhaust is a lot louder in the car. That’s really the only diff from mine compared to 03's and his car is loud at idle but fairly quiet on acceleration and mine is quiet at idle but wot is deafening in the car. I think I am going 2 end up adding a resonator.
I was able to determine for whatever reason his ecu is taking timing from low octane map. Lowered the High octane map some and copied straight over to low map. From what I hear sounds like made a big difference.

So I ordered a magnaflow resonator today. Will have it tomorrow thanks to Amazon Prime and $3.99 overnight shipping. Hopefully that will quiet the in car noise down to an ok level as its a little anoying right now. Outside the car sounds nice but its way louder inside for some odd reason.

Yeah....little frustrated with the car currently.. had a case of losing about a 1-1.5qt of oil every 1000 miles been trying to narrow down finally found dye on the back side of my drain line and think i had a bad gasket. Replaced that last night and just put the car back together today so hopefully oil problems gone. I am still getting an odd noise when car is cold not the same diesel type noise you had with that motor but deff something still don't like. I think its the cause of my false knock. I have been super busy with work last couple months that just been sitting with it at 7lbs. My exhaust inside the car is still driving me nuts. I added the res but didn't quiet it much. Tempted to replace the muffler but I'm not sure thats the fix for how loud it is (03 can attest its louder then his setup by far). Was going to have EnglishRacing tune the car but want to figure out these issues before driving down. Other issue have is car randomly dies when idling. Starting to also debate the e85 route if i fill up 3-4 5gallon tanks and the car about a half hr away I should be able to go 3-4 weeks without needing to go back. Not sure if my injectors would be good enough for it (wrx440s' modded at 880 ( i think thats what they flowed at when cleaned)).

so I'm fairly sure my noise is a either a bad lifter or dirty. Im put a bottle of cd2 i think it was and it made it much better and helped my idle a lot still there but not as bad as it was. 03 and i are going to go down to english after the new years to get me tuned and see what he's really putting down.

so does anyone read this anymore? Haha... so 03 & i took the tranny off again thinking perhaps the newest noise i am having was the flywheel. Turns out its either the TOB or ISB. We replaced the flywheel with my OEM one as I had it resurfaced anyways. Anyone want to buy my fidanza off me? Ill post a FS later tonight. It has 3k miles on it. Anyone here have first hand in replacing the ISB. The Service manual doesn't seem the clearest on it.
