Ill see if i can post one. Whats odd is it comes and goes...thurs/fri it was loud now its comp gone...its been that way for awhile as far as come/go. I would normally agree with tearing down existing but being my DD not feasible to have it down for weeks... Then again a rental car might be cheaper haha... Does anyone have the actual part numbers for the arp stuff needed and i noticed on acl's site they had like 3 options for bearings. No clue what i should be looking at if it comes to this. Im hopeful it won't but Friday will till... I decided I'm going to switch to SD for sure friday. Hopefully things stay good and don't need to rebuild my old motor but at this point it might be a better option.

I tried looking for ARP main studs for are cars but i couldnt find them. So i just used OEM main cap bolts, and tightened them with a torque angle gauge. The ACL bearing i bought were off a seller on EBAY. They were sent from AUSTRALIA I think. RPW.com has all the bearings for are motors. Theres 3 different types the main bearings/rod bearings/thrust bearings. If its rod knock your hearing in your bottom end then that would be noticable, and definite rebuild. You could take off the oil pan and try to wiggle the rod caps around and see if there is any excess play in them to see if you have a spun rod bearing. Doesnt sound like its your issue though.

go to speedcorps.com for the head studs. Send him an email. He can still get the studs for you.

only reason i think it might be something in the head is that it comes and goes. I still have a ton of reading todo before i just order stuff but now that i have a spare head and my old block I'm strongly considering rebuilding the motor anyways. Does anyone know who/what roberts build thread was called from speed corps site. Im going to talk with english about this friday when 03 and i are there so if they can get me the parts for cheaper id order all thru them if not speed corps seems to be cheapest. I remember him and zulu both had issues with crankcase pressure and little worried this will be a problem for getting tuned with the boost turned up on current motor. If it is rod knock when engine is cold whats worse case. Zulu claimed the motor was shaved for the k1 rods but I'm thinking not enough or 03 leans towards a wrist pin if not in the head. In any case the head isn't going to hurt trying as it was a full rebuild according to the place bought it from and my head we put on current motor has 129k now.

Really? Because $70 sounds better than the $120 Toyota ones.

MAIN STUDS from EVO8/9 for our main studs. P/n 207-5401 .... 55$ ebay

head studs from evo i have not checked to see if they work or not..

if u do not know the difference.. Main studs hold the girdle and crank in.. headstuds hold the head onto the block.. two different things... evo main studs work to replace out oem main bolts.

you should try and take a video of the car with the camera right near the engine so you can listen in on it better. being in the cab it makes it tough to decipher sounds. I doesnt sound too bad, I kind of hear something that resembles a spun rod bearing but i cant tell for sure.

This video does make it sound like that. In person it does not at least to me. The rods had no play at all when I inspected the block when I first got ahold of it. I am still thinking wristpin unfortunately. Compression is awesome and runs mint. We will know for sure thursday if its in the head or not after we swap them.

The motor consumes a lot of oil sounds to me like it could be an oil control ring. A quart is a lot to consume .

The problem with trying to do a video under the hood is noise only is obvious when under load. idle free rev doesnt seem to make it. Deff is coming from block/head not transmission.
