Well...its alive...ER is gonna likely have to play with the tune. Im a bit nervious pushing anything more then wg right now (7lbs) till i get the other motor fixed. However only like 1-2 counts of knock that disapear so I may play with it a little since im still on e85 map and they hadnt adjusted it much i think. Amazing how much easier it is to tune when you dont have a wrist pin taping like crazy..Im guessing a lot easier. I may have them put the MBC back in and go back to 16lbs on e85 for now. At some point ill get a built motor back in there but Its a ways off...Damn you zulu lol...I must say I was unsure about doing VTA with the evo 9 dv but it sounds awesome. its quiet but its almost like cracking a whip when it vents. Ill try and take some videos tomorrow. SD idles SOOO much better then maf i must say.

Thanks. Should hopefully know tomorrow for sure if it was wrist pin that failed on zulu's block. 03lances is driving it up in his truck tomorrow and well pull pistons. and crank.

Alright, motor is finally at my house. Thanks to 03lances driving it up we finally pulled the pistons fully expecting a wristpin failure....instead the verdict is in, Piston slap killed all 4 pistons.....no way didnt know there was a problem before he sold steven the motor...sigh whatever. I will never buy from Zulu again...

Pics of the the aftermath.....

Yup....03lances and his wife and I talked about that at dinner tonight. I might take slater up on his block if still wants to get rid of it. Going to order a decent micrometer to see if the block can be salvaged. Likely not....

So sad, I remember looking at zulus for sale thread and wishing i could get a built engine. So unfortunate honest people always get screwed.

I wonder what the clearances were for the bore size those pistons slipped into.

Ryan I'm sorry you really haven't had good luck with this build, and I was really wanted to see your car in action. But I have faith that it will work out soon and you know the guys at er will do a good job.

Haha i just don't have the guts to run 16lbs on stock block right now. Not until the other motor is back together.

Kris thanks. Yeah I know ER will take care of it. Just my pocket book hurts lol...i can't decide if I want them to assemble the old block or just machine it. Just sucks how much you have to pay to play some days. It was really bad timing since I just spent money on wheels and some good tires. Otherwise I likely would have it already in process. Oh well. Im off friday/sat/sunday so I am going to pick up a bunch of steel wool, brake cleaner, and more paper towels to start cleaning the block and taking it apart to get it measured and cleaned if I don't see any problems I might start ordering parts. I think at this point ER will send it out for the machine work to make sure its good. Anyone know if our cranks are nitrided? I don't think they are but ER thought it might be. I could understand the Evo/DSM's but can't imagine our econobox.

at least you have good wheels and tires. i got some in the summer and 3 months later someone decided that they didnt look good on my car so they took them. But on a side note where did you take your injectors to have them worked on. im trying to part together the parts needed for a 4g64 swap and i want to get some checked out.
