Finally a day off tomorrow...turning the pressure washer to the old block and cleaning the heck out of it. hopefully have a clue if motor is close enough to get oversized pistons in and re machine it. Anyone have a undamaged head for sale? I have all the parts to another head just last one has a chunk missing from piston break.

Well today was fun...called around to a few junk yards and found one that had some lancers. Went down and picked up the pieces to complete the head assuming i can get it fixed. Managed to run into Kris by chance as he was there as well... He ended up coming over and helping me tear into the old block and lets just say zulu strikes again....

wow... leaving a shop towel (paper) in the engine is just mad bogus..
I wouldn't toss the block though the oil tube has a screen on it to filter junk that like but i'm sure it blocked the oil passage at least partially leading to shortened bearing failure...
I'm not sure if the block machining you see near the piston bottoms is standard or not but it looks like someone was going to put in oil squirters but ditched the idea at the last minute.

I think it has todo with the k1 rods. Not sure though... at least from my HF micrometer or w/e its called it showed 81.5 which is our standard bore. I think it might be salvageable with a GOOD machine job. I still can't decide if I want ER to assemble the block or not. I think I'm going to replace the crank since i can feel a groove in it from one of the bearings. Not sure if the 4g94 crank can be machines or not. ER thinks it might be nitrated but I can't imagine our econobox having it done.
was gunna ask what that bezoar is in your block.. but nvm i guess a shop towel make sense...
u sir.. need to build again. but this time do it yourself.. all u need is pistons anyways.. rest of ur internals should of been fine.

Personally I'd have someone assemble the block before i did one again lots of little **** that goes into good assembly like bearing clearance checks, ring gap, bore alignment, torque and re-torque, etc. Money isn't such a big deal when i think of the time commitment it would take for me to do it on my own minus the couple of tools i'd have to buy to make it happen.
I first thought it was a big thing of dirt/metal/oil but when you pulled it out... All I can say is wow. And that was the chamber that had the most damage to the crank and bearing. But it was really cool hanging out with you and like I said if you need help any Friday just let me know and I'm there now that i know the other way to get to your place it will be cake

So finally reinstalled MBC and did a couple pulls 0 knock at 14lbs mbc all the way down. Its crazy how it goes from 7 - 14just by installing MBC. Something about the tial wg. Still nervous at 14lbs but its a lot more fun. Might not be my best move as renters are moving out end of month and thats gonna drop my income a bit.. Also studying my *** off for MCITP tests next week. Work is sending me to a boot camp to get em done. Haven't really had time todo anything else. Did notice a couple bolts from manifold to turbo were working there way loose tightened them back down but guessing it will happen again and need to have loc tite to hold....rebuilding the motor is on hold at least for now. Need to keep paying past toys off first before take on motor cost.

Well back from VA and passed my test and finally certified for my job...now just waiting on my review to see what sort of raise I get as well thats been over due. ER is having a dyno day in about a week and a half so I signed up since they owe me some money figured I would have Aaron recheck the tune with the stock motor. I know he changed knock settings and now that I am at 14lbs can't afford knock to not register when it should. I can't recall who else is running SD but i still havent got a straight answer from Aaron why I'm not on tephra for it. I really don't like that my cel doesn't flash if theres knock. Yes there shouldn't be with his tune but still bad gas etc? Also be nice to find out what it is putting down on a stock block. I still want to rebuild the motor but its got to wait...Renters are out and now i gotta fix all the **** they broke. It amazes me how some people just can't respect others stuff. This was the first time I rented the place fully out but I had just repainted cleaned/fixed all the little dings and crap and it feels like was for nothing. Thankfully most of there deposit will cover it but I'm sure they will argue it. Not gonna switch back to e85 either until built motor. Not sure how much better Aaron could get cold start with it but it seriously sucked for the 30~ gallons i went through. I still have 5 more gallons in my garage i think (need to fill my car and see what my afr is to know for sure (e85 map with reg gas was pig rich). I can kind of tell the smell but don't trust myself on that alone. Also had the joy of someone trying to break in to our house the night i flew back. Called the cops and grabbed my gun thought might have to possible draw/shoot someone but thankfully they showed up and hauled his *** away. Thank god for CCTV so we saw him messing around outside before it got serious. Anyways enough of my ramble.
