Oh Look another Turbo Thread - RyanCB's turn.
nope. had it done with mine and the local shop plus a leakdown which confirmed it. plus i did a full oil change in a month from the excessive oil burning as well....
i think a lot of it has to do with the original owner (pretty much the entire drive train was replaced because of "warranty") and when i had to do a clutch right away as well.
so long story short and to anyone looking to buy a "factory" modified car just be careful or it will end up like mine 2 years down the road. pay to have a compression test and leakdown, and also make sure you check the rom as well. if the seller has a problem with that then it prolly has a problem with it or they dont want you looking at it......

well tomorrow I'm going to test drive a pb x gsr was looking at a wrx/sti and turned off by the dealers around here and the fact subaru isn't taking orders. Still early in process but been thinking a lot about picking up one as a weekend car. Still keeping the lancer but want something reliable and fun for when the lancer is pissing me off. (Lot lately...) Also don't think id buy it but an is-350 awd seems interesting as well.

put a deposit on a 12' mr fully loaded tonight. that was a gsr. I never thought i would like an auto but holy crap that was smooth and the paddles are awesome after testing a white mr. Then when talking numbers they found out they had a black mr with everything i wanted shipping tomorrow. After leaving they called me about a hour later saying they found out it already had shipped and is in port. Should be in this week or next. Looks like i will be an evo owner before steven
. (Sorry Steven couldn't resist for my luck with that motor.) Pix to follow. Still keeping the OZ and evo more for weekend/weather. At least I'm going to try and do that...

Grats on the evo! I'll get there soon. Would be able to do it now no problem but these student loans are eating my *** up. Besides the faulty engine what problems has the oz been giving you?

Mainly issues with warm/cold start on aarons tune. I know he can fix it, if i leave it with him but its my only car so i cant leave it 3 hrs away for several days. Car also has cel on for fuel level sensor yet i replaced it with a new one and still came back. Im guessing electrical issue or tune related. Since im on SD cant really go back to stock tune for a while and test that out. However 03 is on the same ROM without SD and never had this problem so I dont know if its SD related or something else. Also my stupid deck ribbon cable is going out again and i dont want to put $200 in it for repair nor buy a new one since if i buy a new one i wanted a indash nav. (evo has and i love when test drove it
) Also my AC after getting it recharged the compressor now has issues and needs to be replaced so thats another $1200~ parts and labor and recharge. Then theres the brakes :-p. The brembo rotors and hawk pads i bought honestly sucked. Auto-X showed that and they are starting to squeel.
Ill put the basics into it to keep it going but goal is evo will slowly become main car and lancer can be the project. I only see my self doing intake/tune any time soon on the evo as its fast enough to fill the bug till i pay it off.
Thanks for the info RS, I had heard a little about that and how a tranny cooler will help a ton there untill get into the 500+ range then new guts will be needed. I also have to say while I dont mind a manual the auto was sure nice again for just driving around and the paddle shifters when need to rip on it.
Anyone have a link to the break in proceedure for them? I heard keep it under 5k rpm for first 1k miles and then change out the fluids. Also is the alignment issue still a problem on the X's from the factory. What really sold me on this was the fact its right off the boat, no one has test driven it to beat on it.
