Ok I think I got them all....
The pulley size has already been implemented; we have yet to build a “stage2” block to accommodate more than 11psi. Remember the pulley ratio remains consistent so that math does not have to be engineered.
A supercharger set up is not built the same way as a turbo set up. Conventionally you would lower compression to accommodate more cylinder pressure. We’ve found (in nearly all our other SDS builds) that a drop higher compression will build a more dynamic HP curve. By having more compression (9.5:1) and 10-15psi, is equivalent to running upwards of 15-18psi on a TC set up. The result is even quicker boost curves and less parasitic loss.
We have already programmed the parameters the Black Box will need to monitor under these higher levels of boost. Our Loop Limit feature will even compensate for higher octane. All this mapping is really generated by the factory ECU, our unit just reads the information being provided and tunes accordingly. It’s a lot of work for us in the beginning, but it makes for ease of set up later. Very rarely do we have to reflash a BB for upgrades. Of coarse if we come out with better tunes customers can send it back and get the upgrade, providing they flip the bill for shipping.
Well yes and no.. the stock ECU will see all the variables the SDS is now feeding it, according to the ECU it now has to trim accordingly.. but it’s never been programmed to… So the Black Box “translates” the information via various connections… this will allow the ECU to do it’s best in keeping the car running. While under stock conditions the ECU would not be able to tune the car, the BB straightens the tune out, and the ECU see’s all of this through the O2’s… SO IT THINKS its doing the JOB…resulting in a stock running Boosted car… As the variables change, the ECU adapts... Again bending the tune to where it feels it should be, the BB see’s the very same variables and tunes accordingly…
It’s a very impressive piece of hardware..
We do not make it available to the public, because the public should not need to tune it… Remember we provide you with a pre-tuned unit. So you do not have to rely on a tuner to build you your tune. We all know what happens when you source out a tuner for new software… he convinces you that what you have is wrong and what he tunes is better.
Another thing holding us back, is the ability to support the BB program, we are not prepared to market it alone just yet. We are leaning towards that in the later part of the year. Were will have Black Box certified installation shops… we are working on the packages as we speak.

Umm… the great thing about our unit is the tune writes itself… by using the stock ECU… so we don’t have to go through that crazy stuff. Keep in mind the BB program cost over $45000 to develop.
The bypass valve we have redesigned for the 04 season is the first of its kind… We will be publishing pictures of the new valve shortly. The concept is simple at idle is bleeds off a small percentage of air so as not to create compressor surge and build up heat. It will do the same under cursing conditions. As soon as you kill the vacuum it will cloase and allow boost to build…
A nominal setting of no more than 10psi, which includes the methanol water injection and our new valve. That figure also represent the larger 310cc injectors. Completely stock internals and head.
We provide a two part instruction manual, the install Boe did on the Eclipse is hard… it’s long and tedious. It would be 10, this is way easier I’ll say a 7. It’s still long, but not nearly as frustrating.

In all it trully seems like your system is an install and forget about it system... meaning it takes care of itself mostly.

Capable of receiving engine info and adjusting as needed... only difference is that it adjusts by modifying stock ecu's parameters right? I don't think i've ever seen anything that great except a full stand alone. Do you sell the software for it so that people can do independant tuning or is that not even necessary? Sorry to hit you up with so many ??'s but these haven't been answered and they are super relevent to people.

Very few if any pieces of hardware out on the market can generate their own closed loop systems to hold the AFR where they want. That piece of hardware in and of itself would be a wortwhile purchase for anyone. Add some form of software for adjusting it and you have something to nudge in along side of if not beat on items like the AEM and even the Microtech that I run.

He's running that when not in boost. Boosting is a different field and the ecu is forced rich then. As a rule though, tuning to 14.7:1 throughout the rpm range while not in boost is considered factory spec. Most cars stay right there until 80%+ throttle when they switch to open loop mapping where adjustablility of signals is easily done. Drivability is truly the hardest to tune in my opinion.

I'm in the process of trying to tune my MP3 for city driving and cruising and so forth... so no need to tell me about how tuning driveability is a *****!! LOL... I hate that every time you drive you end up under different water and intake temps as well which make life difficult for getting dialed in too!
i was assuming that was the case... but at the same time it wasn't really all the clear. I'm going to assume the bypass valve is used a lot of the time... because otherwise cruising along on the highway at 3,000 rpms you'll be making 3 or better psi and obviously that would need to be a bit richer...

quick question ripp. is there any time estimate on the "special introductory price?". i know technically speaking the kit is available for purchase (as you guys stated over the phone), but i (and i'm sure other members) are wondering when the group discount will begin.
Thanks for the answers... now i'd trully like to see that box for sale independantly. Seems that would be something that all tuners would love to have... I don't like the idea of installation/authorized shops but for proper start up procedures i'm sure that is the best way to go.

I also would like to see this kit in my car - but im not feeling the 4K kit, i would much rather buy a used RRM kit for 2K and put that puppy in and see 175WHP and then always be able to reach 200+ with just an extra like 1K at most and still be under the price of this kit yet be at the same HP as my automatic car would see with a SC system.
I was inlove with this kit - but am kind of drifiting away - not sure if i will fully drift away or if i will still get his kit. ALl depends on how i feel when i have 2500$ sitting in my pocket and then i will see if i go turbo or not, but i am thinking turbo just because its cheaper and i am impatient and cant wait to boost!

lol - ya u may smoke me when i put 2k into my car - but then again if i were to put around the 4K your going to spend into my car with a turbo we would be exactly the same or i would smoke you because i get more power when i need it.
Talk to SDHTOWN - steve - he knows his **** about this SDS stuff and explained how u actually loose power off the line with the superchager or something crazy like that, but i trust him like i would trust boe with my car.

yeah but the sudden jump in power will wear down your engine a lot faster than a sds. so you may get sds hp with 1k in mods, but expect to pay 1k a year for engine maintainance. and we will just stay at 4k, while u rise up the cash scale.
eh im not sure about that - i havent heard to many people say they pay 1,000$ to maintain there turbo, and i know lots of people with stock turbo cars or people that paid money to put turbo in there car, and yes they take care of them b/c its simple car maintnance but non of them pays 1,000$ a year for it.
