They also cut costs on their turbo's by getting them from overseas. At least the one's i've seen are knock-offs. There have been many reports of these turbo's coming apart on some cars(not lancers as of yet) but on many others. When you see a garret T-25 or T-28 and hold up the knock-off next to it you get disgusted easily. The castings are very poorly done.

If you think about it... how can they only charge about 400 bucks for an upgrade to the T-28 when that turbo is about 800+ dollars brand new. If it is a GT ball bearing style its over a 1000 and that's dealer costs!!

Just be careful as the guy sitting at home wishing for turbo... saving... then going for the cheapest deal... often doesn't know the difference between a knock-off and a real manufactures turbo. Not to mention the other custom work you need to do for the kit and tuning... every one i've seen thus far has had to be tuned. Those that aren't tuning are running lean in areas and super rich in others. Car runs like crap unless you floor it and driving part boost is lean and ready to blow.

I can't count how many guys i've had to assist with that kit. They are luck their boards like this now and people willing to sit down and discuss things with them that are knowledgeable. In the end it takes a month or more to get the car running right and even then it's not all that.

Remember don't try to save money on something involving forced induction, NOS, or any major engine related components. Save some more and get kits that are reputable or do it custom at a shop you trust. In the end you'll be happier and more confident about it.
