How To: Installing Mitsubishi Aux/MP3 cable
I just did the install and it works great. RR21 if you didn't figure out how to undo the pigtail wiring lock, try this. Take a very small allen wrench and put it into one of the bottom pigtail connection areas about halfway in, and then push down. The clip should pop down. I discovered this by accident and actually used the wire itself to do this.
Bluewaterdemon great write up!

Hi All!
I'm a little confused here. I have the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS, I am going to go to the dealership an order this part, there were a lot of different posts so just to clarify, what part number will I be asking for?
Thanks so much, in advance.

Thanks a lot for the tutorial. i just bought the Lances ES and it was very easy to put the Aux Cable.
One thing I can tell is that in new models the PIN connectors where tou have to put the Left right and gorund are already cabled. That cables goes to a little compartment below the AC control. so the only thing you have to do is to take out the stereo Box, and conect directy to that extension is very easy. it took me some time to figure where was that extension but after that.. piece of cake.
thanks man! I rate that tutotial with a 10!

i have this on my lancer too
I tried buying a cheap aux cable from pep boys for like 10 bucks, but the connectors would fit into my ipod, but were too big to plug into the aux connectors, SOMMABIATCH!!!
so do i have to buy a cable from the dealership, or can i get one someplace cheaper from like frye's or best buy?

just buy neutrik RCA connectors( this fits the aux connectors anf are like 4 bucks each) and ask in the electronic shop to make the cable for you... that is if you don't know how to.
if anyone still browses this post.
I thinking on making my own cable and I can't seem to find out what type of pin connector clamps are used at the ends of the wire to fit into the harness. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?
Are they so exclusive that I have to track them down at an Electrical shop or should Pep Boys/Auto Zone/Kragens/Radio Shack have em?

Hey y'all. First post here.
This is what I watched to do my AUX setup on my 2010 Lancer.

I just bought a headphone extension cable from Radio Shack for $8, cut it in half, spliced the main cable, then spliced the Left and Right channels, then followed the diagram that is in the video. Works like a charm.

I have a 2010 Lancer GTS and I am disappointed that there is no USB connection. I think that the USB would provide a better sound quality even though I have the Sun and Sound package. Would anyone know if there is a USB kit for this car? Thanks.
I'm working on getting a MY 2011 Lancer Sportback (its a normal car in Europe, no fast engines or sport suspension) and in the MY 2011 catalog it lists "Bluetooth hands-free cellular phone interface system with USB port and voice recognition / Link System" on the trim options that include the Rockford Fosgate system. It lists it as Not Available on the regular HU, I'm waiting to hear if its possible to install it though, I sure hope it is, most cars come with USB now with their stock HU.

I haven't find one but, i bought some pin tails for IC (integrated circuits) you can find them on the electronic store, i cut the pins and they fit well.
With this you avoid cutting the connector they already have.

Which electronic store? Is it a website or some store like radio shack?
