I assume the original connects like this:
red = right +
white = left +
black = common ground -

Is this correct wiring?
Thanks
Not to worry, fitted my home made cable...cost a total of $4.00 and works perfectly!

So to those who made a homemade cable, are all of you getting noise from it? I purchased a noise filter and was going to purchase a ground loop isolator. The ground loop isolator's I've seen have RCA connections and was just going to cut them off and solder the wires straight to my cable I have(I have an RCA to 3.5mm cable). I also went and got some of the square female connectors that go on the ends like the OEM cable, 15 cents each at a local electronics shop.

There are some vendors on eBay selling these "homemade" cables and one even has an ipod cable that looks the exact same except it has a fused power wire and additional ground so that you can charge the ipod even. It has an ipod connector on the end of course. When I get mine done with the ground isolator I will take some pics and show y'all what I did.

No, no noise. I didn't wire in a cable as such. I didn't like the idea of a fixed cable floating around the car...messy.
I drilled two neat holes where the audio connection is in some models of the Lancer (on the back panel, out of sight near where the cigarette lighter is) and mounted a pair of RCA connectors. These connect to the rear of the radio.
When ever I use my Walkman (yes, Walkman...Ipods suck! ) I use a 3.5mm to rca cable, plug it into the car and off I go. The only time I get 'noise' is if the 3.5mm jack is not inserted properly into Walkman.

"Step #3: Removing the pigtail wiring lock is probably the most difficult part, and can be a little tricky."

Great how to and easy except for one part. How do I remove the wires? Any tips?

Its my first time doing this and I would really appreciate some advice.
