COOL. I just got my cable yesterday, now it's only a matter of getting my hands on a laptop and being able to do some ROM pulling. And finally experiment w/ the prog.

Holy crap dude! That was fast. What did that take, like one day? It's good to know that shipping on the cable wont be a problem, sometimes It's an mother F***re!! (Damper). I just traded my inlaws a grill and a treadmill for a used laptop. I just have to find a way to get the cable purchase past the wife. Well good luck! I'm looking forward to some results on this so bad that I almost want to drive to NY to let you use my laptop , almost.

thanks... I have some sony portable, but it has no cd-rom or serial hook up. Only usb and the battery don't work. lol. hopefully my flash key has enough memory so i can move the programs into it. or i'll just get a usb to usb and transfer data. Then i'll just get a power converter for the cig lighter and hook up power directly to the laptop...

gotta do what i gotta do...

yea i got TOM ( sicktight ) on stand-by. But he's a drive away, but as soon as I have time, I'll definitely meet up w/ him. So he can do his car as well.

honestly, I"m more concerned on finalizing my turbo before anything. Going to the hardware store tomorrow morning and see what I can find!

as for the computer thang?.. what i said up before should work. i'll look on craigslist later on and find some used old one that works! for a good price.

I have a stock fuel rail, but if bored is making my car run super lean I think I'll be needing it. My car is waiting for me in Florida, once I get down there I'll be, hopefully, getting that cable and taking it to http://www.jestrtuning.com/ near Orlando. I emailed them, but the guy is in Jamaicaman.
Ok guys, good news! I got a hold of a stock fuel rail and installed it this morning. The car runs WAY BETTER NOW! This solved my super low AFRs (very very rich) and increased performance/power considerably. Let me explain: I got the bored fuel rail when I was N/A to help with throttle responce by ensuring there was enough fuel behind the injectors when I'd mash the gas. It worked great for me as N/A. However, when I went turbo, I also added a much larger fuel pump (Walbro 255) and a 12:1 FMU (for every 1 PSI of boost, fuel pressure is raised 12 PSI). So basically, I was flooding way too much gas into the engine. When RRM built this kit, the fuel solution relied on the stock fuel rail. So now after installing the stock FR back in, my AFRs are around 11.1 at WOT which is a great improvement over the <10 I was reading before hand.

However, even though the car is running much better, it's still too rich. AFRs should be tuned to around 11.5-12 for turbo guys and 13-13.5 for N/A guys. So on Monday I'll start tinkering around with the ROM and see if I can't get a good tune. I'm still trying to find the best way to log my wideband (AEM UEGO).

Glad to see more people getting the cables and getting ready to flash!

It should something like this: (this is the screenshot of an EVO8 ROM loaded in ECUFlash). Note how all those parameters/maps on the left column can be selected.

This blows my mind. I just bought a SAFC-II, the day before this thread was posted, for my tuning needs. I'm beating my self up now for it now. I'm glad there are are guys like Z making personal strides in self tuning and sharing the wealth.

Just for point of comparison: I have a friend who just bought a Nissan 1.8 S and after searching their boards I am left with one conclusion... You base Lacer guys are by far some of the coolest, most knowledgeable, self-starting idividuals when it comes to online communities.

Thanks Z.

I'm now possibly going to sell my SAFC-II... haha! Maybe to one of those Sentra guys. Haha.

well folks, i finally got my laptop working and hooked it up to the car. I pulled my ROM but it seems the definition file for 2002 that is already in place isn't reading/defining my rom. The 2003 doesn't define it either.

What should I do? Where exactly do I look in the definition file and what do I change so it can read/define my ROM? besides changing the Manual to Automatic portion.

let me know.

Thanks, Shingen What good is knowledge if you don't share it I was this >.< close to buying an SAFC2 as well to tune the car and I finally got someone to break down my ROM for me. Definately sell that SAFC2 and buy up a Tactrix cable instead

What is your ECU identifier? Its that number displayed when you connect your ECU. There should only be a handful of different ECUs out there but it may be that no one has made a definition for your particular ECU yet. Let us know. I know two people who could work out your ROM for you. To get your ROM, just choose any definition file to translate the ROM. Then save it. Even though its incorrectly translating you're ROM, all the raw data is still there.

well what i did was take the copy of the identifier you shared and used the base one that was already present and merged them. Just changed some of the upper portion of the xml file to match my car/ecu and it defined it. The strange part is that the numbers are all over the place. doesn't look anything like the base/stock map you placed on the first page of this thread.

Well, all in all, I'm able to read it. Either way, I sent a copy of my ROM to EvoGLH to see if he could be able and decipher the definition file. hopefully he does and I can compare to see if I did mine correctly. If so, it'll show me if I was right in arranging the definition settings correctly.

Time will tell. Important thing is that I got to extract my rom and now I'm good to go! I'm still trying to learn and use EVOScan.. makes no sense to me. But i'll figure it out.
