Ok guys, good news! I got a hold of a stock fuel rail and installed it this morning. The car runs WAY BETTER NOW! This solved my super low AFRs (very very rich) and increased performance/power considerably. Let me explain: I got the bored fuel rail when I was N/A to help with throttle responce by ensuring there was enough fuel behind the injectors when I'd mash the gas. It worked great for me as N/A. However, when I went turbo, I also added a much larger fuel pump (Walbro 255) and a 12:1 FMU (for every 1 PSI of boost, fuel pressure is raised 12 PSI). So basically, I was flooding way too much gas into the engine. When RRM built this kit, the fuel solution relied on the stock fuel rail. So now after installing the stock FR back in, my AFRs are around 11.1 at WOT which is a great improvement over the <10 I was reading before hand.

However, even though the car is running much better, it's still too rich. AFRs should be tuned to around 11.5-12 for turbo guys and 13-13.5 for N/A guys. So on Monday I'll start tinkering around with the ROM and see if I can't get a good tune. I'm still trying to find the best way to log my wideband (AEM UEGO).

Glad to see more people getting the cables and getting ready to flash!

It should something like this: (this is the screenshot of an EVO8 ROM loaded in ECUFlash). Note how all those parameters/maps on the left column can be selected.

Sorry this is off topic, but in your opinion is it possible I could be having a similar problem now that I have a RPW FPR because surely that is supplying the fuel as needed and I have have it set at 40psi as prescribed by RPW. I'm just wondering if I would be better off with the stock fuel rail, but I thought the injectors, as the metering devices, would keep me from being rich.

Hmm, I'm not too sure. The RPW FPR is a rising rate FPR, so for every 1 PSI of boost, you only raise the fuel pressure 1 PSI, so I would think you wouldn't be running very rich. With the Vortech FMU, we increase the fuel PSI 12 for every 1 PSI of boost, so we are getting much hight fuel pressures. However, if you have access to your stock rail, you can always try it out.

However, you must have a way to monitor your EGTs, especially on cylinder 1 (the one furthest down the fuel rail). Your wideband will only measure the average AFR of the whole engine - all four cylinders. Even though it may be reading rich, that may mean that cylinder 3 and 4 are very rich, 2 is good and 1 is lean, but you see that on average you are running rich. So if you have an EGT probe in the 1st runner, you can also monitor your EGTs and make sure you're not running too hot (lean).

^^^Thanks, I don't have access to AFR monitoring, I am notboosted either, I guess I am just trying to understand how the fuel rail can cause you to run rich. I will be getting it on a dyno soon so I will find out whats going on then. Thanks again. How is reflash going?

The ECUflash is free.

You would have to pay for the EVOscan, which is 15 dollars.
Cable is about 94 shipped.

I added this to the first post, but this is a great ECUFlash tutorial written by an EVO owner in their ECUFlash tuning section. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=201146

You can get EVOScan software for logging and stuff here: http://www.limitless.co.nz/evoscan/

Oh, it's not free. $15 dollars I think.

it's just you... seems to be working for me. Check again, maybe it was down for maintenance or something... things like that happen.
