Always remember, lower compression with turbo gets you higher top end numbers. The low end can kill you. Whenever the car is not boosting, the performance is sucky, to say the least.

that is why i think the 4g64 is the optimum platform. has great torque down low and can make good hp numbers up high without running it to 9k rpms.

Sounds like a plan. So tq has the advantage over high revving hondas ? Since the powerband is alot sooner. In the 1/4 mile at least?

kinda, my engine revs to 7500. i start making power 500 to 1000 rpms before my 4g63 counterparts. so i will beat them off the line but i am shifting at 7500 while they are not shifting until 8500 to 9000. i make peak power from 5500 to 7500 very flat and linear. so each has advantages and disadvantages. for a street setup i also recommend the 4g64 if i was going all out drag i would prob go with the 4g63. but to answer your question i would say more like the 1/8 mile. the 1/4 mile maybe to long and allow them to catch up in the end.

I've found amazing deals on G64 engines. Just wait for a damaged eclipse to pop up.

as i stated earlier good deals can be had on there. just got to look. be sure you view all the pages, when i did a quick look for 4g64 engines the price ranged from 250 to 1300. as for the spyder you found, i would be careful. the most common reason for a cracked head is over heating, which can do more than just destroy the head. i would try to take a look at it or get him to pull the head just to see if you can see any potential problems.
