yes the difference in power is nice... I would recommend everyone do this swap as a first thing , although after I completed it and started doing research about the dohc head swap , I found out that in theory the evo engine should bolt to the eclipse transmission and im thinking that may be another route to go down... I may have to make a write up on that one in a year or two or sooner if someone else wants to fund the project / get there car swapped ...

The thing is, if you get a front clip of an Evo V, you're looking at spending maybe $4500. So far, he has spent $1800, now he needs to do a DOHC swap, which will cost at least $1k, now he is at $2800. Turbo kits ain't cheap my friend...so the cost is actually around the same. Only one of them has a higher upfront cost. N/A G64 can put down some nice numbers though...

n/a would be nice, plus evo front clip vs eclipse front clip, eclipse is much easier to find, at least where im from. i thought a turbo kit could be had for cheap with a g64 since eclipse and evo parts bolt up.. or no?plus if u do spend the same, it will be a stroked g63.. not another 2.0. i figured evos and dsms swap their block fora reason.

all the above information is pretty good, thank jehuty ... swap your motor if you want power, slap a turbo on 4g94, you can buy prefabbed turbo kits for either for between 2500-4000 or you can custom make your own for 1000-2000, when doing stuff to your car its all in what you like best, yes having a 4g64 is awesome and doing a dohc head swap is pretty friggin sick... The upgrade options after swapping over to the 4g64 is opened up a little bit , to more availability of prefabbed stuff...
The reason the evo 4g63 would be a better option is because it starts at 280hp and is tuned up from there and 400-450hp is commonly seen on stock bottom ends...
The 4g64 can hold about 275-300 on the stock bottom end then you will be spending money on rods and pistons , Doing a n/a 4g64 with a dohc head swap , intake , headers , exhaust would net about 150-160 or 170-190hp depending on witch head you got. If you got the hyundai/kia head it would be 150-160hp if you got the evo head you would get 170-190. The reason for this is because of the compression ratio differences because of combustion chamber sizes...
Another thing you can do is contact rpmruffryder , He had a custom ground cam shaft made for his 4g64 sohc head and his numbers were pretty nice...

yea he got good numbers. i was under the impression that the block and head combo with about 10psi would put down similar numbers to a stock g63..ATW. if the motor itself is 155 hp. add about 10psi that puts it at about 250 right. since the g64 handles boost way better than g94 and the g94 can gain about 80hp with about 10psi. but idk, im new to all this. i was planning on the g64 swap but if the g63 is just as easy but more beneficial then maybe ill go that route but isn't the evo at about 18psi stock?
