Whenever you do a swap, expect the worse. Make sure you have rental car on your insurance. You can claim your car is under "repairs". I have done so. Rental rate is a bit cheaper for repairs and defray the cost w/ your insurance company.

A MIVEC will have to be from a G92 Gen 2, not the G69.

It will have to be imported and it is not as easy as it seems. You will need of courset the full head, with timing belt, cam gears, etc etc.

sorry to bring back such a old thread, but i am curious about something.

eldanoloco; you said that the 4g69 has different castings and different configurations. I would really appreciate it if you would post those in the ralliart forum or just pm a link to where I can find this information. Thank you.

A g69 swap isn't cost effective comparing you just buy it used off the lot than getting regular ES or OZ.

You might have to look at the 4g eclipse G69. Throttle cable looks in its normal place . . . of course, I have only seen the motor once at a dealership. MEanwhile, RA's T-cable is located on the passenger side near the P/S pump, if I remember correctly.

BTW: I really want to meet a 4g eclipse owner and check out the motor. If my assumption is correct, the 4g eclipse's G69 motor might be a tad bigger than the RA's g69 (looks like Mitsu shoehorned the motor into the engine bay).

The RA motor and Eclipse 4G motor are identicle as far as block and head goes...I am pretty sure the "fly by wire" throttle setup is the same as well...but I MIGHT MIGHT be off a little on it. Nonetheless though...the 4G69 swap is not cost effective in any way...we are about to do the first 4G64 swap into a friends OZ in the coming weeks. If people care I will make sure someone keeps EvoM posted on this as it goes. Lots of pics too dont worry.

The RA and 4g eclipse does have identical motor, but the 4g eclipse's throttle cable isn't near the power steering like the RA. The sole reason: the 4g eclipse can swallow a 3.8 liter, 6 banger within its engine bay while the lancer/mirage can't with a larger displacement, 6 banger.

Just check out the dealership and pop open the hood. You'll see the minor difference. I have only seen it once for under 3 mins in a showroom, can't remember too much detail in that much time.

If I have any spare time in the future, I'll ask AQ and join him in O-town to visit a Mitsu dealership to compare his RA to a 4g eclipse. If I'm allow to, I'll bring my digicam and photo the 4g eclipse's motor.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Mitsu tweaked the ECU or emission a bit . . . Mitsu did it for the mirage 97,98,99, and 00 and/or 01/02 G93 (of course, mostly emission related).

Heck, I care. Inform your fellow lancer owners.

When the 5g mirage had such swap, even though wasn't tuned to the right parts, it was still good enough to compete against a modern Sentra V-spec. Of course, the mirage is much lighter . . . if informing, go better details than the canadian Evo swap guy (too many promises, disappear, and look at it now . . . to me, it's not kosher).

No No the ENTIRE point of this for ME is to advance the platfor with this swap. I want to see Mitsu succeed and getting things that can make the average car fast did wonders for Honda so I am hoping it helps the Mitsu line. I dont even TECHNICALLY own a Lancer any more. I sold my RA to my roomy and I am driving my Stealth now full time. But I still loved the Lancer and I still participate in a lot of things. I am on SCLC.net all the time and I will be doing this swap at my house with one of those members. I will be doing a LOT of walkthrough stuff and taking a BUTTLOAD of pics! We will keep everyone posted...especially you baja..you have been here forever and I have always respected you...you have always cared about helping people and havent been a jackass about it...appreciated. If I need any help I would be quick to ask you but honestly I think i got this...and I have ROCK to ask also

MORE TO COME!!!

Your link isn't quite right or something. I don't see anything until I quote you.

Best to ask stuff from the originator LB (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/me...p?userid=18693), not me or
KillahB, he keeps in contact w/ a bunch of people.
