what is the weakest link in the lancer?

i dont get why our lancers are so slow. even 1.5L civics can handle our car, same goes for sentras escorts etc. my question is what is one of the parts of the lancer that robs a ton of the hw we could be getting? my friend drove my car once and he was suprised at the amount of body roll it had. his van has less body roll than my es. why has mitsu neglected our car, and has anyone found say...the top 3 parts that rob most of our hp/tq? i know the 2 cats dont help any. what else is there ?

Looking at the Intake manifold I belive that robs a few. The runners are like 2 feet long and the plenum is as big as a coke can. Somone needs to come out with a true aftermarket IM, not just a P&P one.

i understand that, but i mean for the most part, aside from tranny and a slightly diff engine, not to mention slightly diff chassis, the evo and lancer arent that far apart. they look similar, use a similar engine, 4 doors, same interior (for the most part) and so on and so forth. come to think of it, they're both sedans and both are sporty. evo just costs more with more parts.

evo is awd, completely different engine and suspension....

Lancer can make decent power but it is FWD, You need an LSD at some point if you get into the high WHP #'s.

weakest part of the stock motor is the air constriction which is what troubles most motors. let more air in/and out, and go FI and your set.

wow, no, sorry to be so harsh but.... WE DRIVE A DIFFERNT CAR THEN AN EVO, the evo and our lancers are nowhere even close to being the same, and interior doesnt count since your talking about performance.

bottom line is we drive a totally different car manufactured by mitsubishi and i wish more lancer AND ESPECIALLY evo owners would come to terms with this

as for why mitsu has neglected our cars, well, because theyre not made to be sport cars in anyway shape or form, they are point A to point B cars

oh yeah its not really that harsh. its the truth. im just mad that i mean for the evo they use the same lettering as they do for the lancer. they shouldve changed the name of our econoboxes. how come u wish especially evo owners would come to terms that they're two different cars? we arent compared that much to evos, are we?

ive gotten in plenty of fights with evo owners who call my car a piece of **** and a cheap rip off of an evo and "not worthy of the lancer name"

evo owners are some cocky bastards at times

well i figured that but in terms of comparing the two their bar is set waaaay higher up than ours is, in terms of stock and/or aftermarket comparison. i figured u meant in other ways.

RPW was doing some R&D a few months ago. They might have the intake manifold available already.

If we look at the lancer as it us supposed to be viewed, it is a great car. It is meant to be dependable, stylish, and cheap. Non-modded lancers seem to hold up very well. considering the price difference between lancer and civics and corollas i'm so glad I picked the lancer and got a car thats nearly as dependable for much less.

with this is in mind the engineers at mitsu built a car that is quiet and gets good fuel economy. NA engines with our same displacement in other vehicles can make a lot more power like the new civic si, which is built for speed. Despite the lack of power, i'm really satisfied with the lancer. it handles really well. upgrade the suspension a bit, add some power, put in some new speakers, and you've got a great economy sedan that can hang with the rest

seriously screw evo owners who are like that. i can understand if oz's and es's are running around with evolution badges all over them, but evo owners should respect the lancer for what it is.

this just boils down to any snobby car vs car war. lots of high-end car owners make fun of the evo/sti. it's apples and oranges
