Would you mind revealing where in MN you work? If it's too risky that's fine.

Mitsubishi has the youngest customer demographic in the industry. Honda and Toyota have some of the oldest. You don't think that's scaring them? Honda and Toyota are rapidly becoming old-people cars, like Caddy's and Buicks. Mitsu is grabbing buyers when they are young and trying to hang on to them by offering a much wider range of vehicles to grow into as they get older. Customers start out in Lancer's or Eclipse, then move into Outlanders, Galants, Endeavors etc as they get older and priorities change. That wasn't really possible just a few years ago.
Mitsubishi aims to sell 500,000 cars in the U.S. by MY05. That's a serious threat to Honda and Toyota.

It's working. Mitsu forever baby.
Actually German engineering is overrated. (I can say this, I'm European and owned german engineered cars in Switzerland).
Anyway,
is german owned, German managed and is already using some german manufacturing techniques...

That may be the case, but I am still in love with the GTI. If they werent so damned expensive (and hard to find) I'd own the 337 edition. Although the VR6 is faster, the 1.8T in the 337 has more potential for modding methinks.
I've been a fan of www.vwvortex.com for a long time, and they had an article about VW adding a larger VR6 to the lineup in the near future:
That would be more than enough to close the deal on me getting a VR6 GTI... 200+ hp in that tiny little pocket rocket

Copied from www.vwvortex.com
"Expect to see the 3.2l VR6 utilized in the Touareg, Phaeton (Europe only), Microbus, next generation Passat and next generation Golf and Jetta."

The performance potential of the GTI's in general is pretty awesome.
I'm just sick of hearing about German Engineering superiority when the ADAC (German Touring Club) and German consumers (via J.D. Powers survey, not to mention my own experience) indicate that the German made cars are less reliable.

Look, no offense, but, we've all heard "confirmed" information from people who work at Mitsu with the "inside track." I'll not concede that it's fact until I see that car on the salesroom floor, training or no.

IMO nothing can contend with the overall styling and performance (luxury and sport) with the likes of audi s, bmw m, and mercedes amg.

is owned and led by Germans.I respect your opinion and simply beg to differ.
BMW, Audi and MB do make very nice cars, the BMW Valvetronic innovation is superb, but they still break down more than they should given what they cost.
They break down a hole lot. I had an '86 325es the cost roughly $3,000 a year to keep the car running. It's sold and now I have a mitsubishi. I no longer have to foot the huge repair bills.

you are already going "European".
I mentioned in a few posts, a while back, that the largest Japanese conglomerate is out of $$$. They're going broke.
Mitsubishi licensed their name and complete line of automobile brands to Daimler, then just sold 43% of their truck business outright. I think the Japanese group still own a small % of their original company, while subsidiaries are splitting up the rest. Don't believe what you read on the web, there are always disclaimers...but, MMC is well known for selling out to Daimler in return for reserved status as a the sole "Global Alliance". It's the result of a plan that's been over 60 years in the making.
When you buy an Evo, what you get, essentially, is Tommi Makinen in jackboots.@Got Rice? Hell no! Honda and Toyota are the only 100% Japanese Auto manufacturers left, and most of their cars are built in the US, India, Indonesia and now, China. Renault owns Nissan, so your 70K Skyline GT-R is essentially, a poodle. Enjoy the dream, my friends, while it still lasts...
