hey guys i bought a 08 lancer with basic audio setup and no navigation it is a GTS. now i see on my radio a SAT button, so i called siruis radio, they asked me for my vin number, the vin didnt even come out in the system. so they coulnt help me!. the next day i went back to mitsu, and they told me that the car is prewired for sat radio, meaning they have to install some type of modulator, which wont be available till mid JULY.

Now i can get a seperate receiver and modulate it from that, but i actually wanna use my stock radio for satelite, from what i heard it wont have any static in it...


or would i be just better off going back to mitsu and upgrading to rockford fosgate audio? and may be the navigation?

 

Only the sun & sound package has satellite tuner installed from the factory. You would need to install a separate tuner or wait until they can install it for you.

It might be best to just upgrade to the rockford fosgate package.

 

I was wondering about the SAT button myself. It is incorrect to say only the Sun and Sound package comes with the SAT I have the Sun and Sound and have no Sat function.. Hmmmm or Do I ???

 

how can I know if my Sun & Sound package has the SAT available??? which is the range of this service??? is it available for Mexico??? OMG

 

You do have to activate the service before you can use it. It should say on your window sticker from the dealership that lists all the features if it is installed or not. It even gives you the phone number to call Sirius to activate the service.

At least mine did. Dont know if all dealerships will list things the same.

I have Sirius for 6 months and then the satellite tuner will cease to function.

Any ES or GTS Lancer that has the Sun & Sound package has a Sirius Satellite radio w/ 6 months of service. In order to activate this service, there is a number on your window sticker to dial. You will also need to bring up your Sirius ID in order to give it to the person when you set up your account for the first time.

For those that have just the Sun & Sound package, put the radio mode into Satellite and seek to Channel 0. Once you are at Channel 0, the Sirius ID will come up on the digital display.

For those that have the Sun & Sound + Navi & Technology package, put the radio into Sirius mode and press the '^' button on the lower left section of the screen. A new screen with 'Sirius ID' will come up. Press that button and your ID will come up on screen.

I personally find it revolting that the sales people who deliver these cars and do not explain these functions should not be allowed to sell cars.

 

Unfornatly to activate it i think your going to need the radio's sirius's ID # which KMX looks like he explained how to get it. I went to activate mine and gave them the VIN# of the car and they couldn't find it. I gave them the Sirius ID and i was in business Kind of weird though when i bought my jeep i gave them the vin # and they activated it that way..

 

I still Dont think this is right I read the manual and it says to Turn the Radio Off then select AM FM SAT and it will go to SAT 1 or whatever . My Radio does not go into this mode Period just AM FM FM1 then CD/MP3 mode. I have the Rockford Fosgate 650 Watt 9 speaker system but no Navi My car is from Canada. I will Call Sirius and give them my VIN and we will see.

Once you activiate it.
Go to Sirius.com and you can view your free account there. Once activated they will send you all the brochures for it. You can listen online as well.
after you 6 months $12.32 per month if you want to keep it.
Or you can pay quarterly.
