i live 45 - 60 mins away from their shop. so it woulda been cool to go pay them a visit and then come home shiftin'

damm that tranny swap i thought about a few months ago just becomes more and more of a desired mod for me

I'm not sure if anyone has even done the infamous auto to a manual conversion, too costly considering the outcome.

hah...i duno if we'll be seeing kareem around any time...but if i do run into him i'll throw it in the air. i know a girl did this to her 1.8 mirage i'm sure its a similar setup for the lancers as well.

Ok, well its been enough chat about the trans we've gone waaay off topic...if you guys really want to talk about this some more make a thread -=o]

yeah my bad for off topic. but its because of illuminati that I now know that this swap (along with other evo engines) is very possible and I will be looking to get this done as well (dont count on it for a while cause of money. I'm sure many others will have it done before me). so congratulations illuminati. much respect

I highly doubt it. Demographically, mirage and regular lancer owners are relatively poor. H&A (looks like most of them), moderate amount of DSM, and most Supra owners have tons of money to spare. Also, Mitsu don't share too many things from one chassis to another.

During 98-02, the cost of getting an Evo motor from overseas was skyhigh and making it impractical . . . when 3KGT and DSM died to the wayside, Mitsu brought the Evo and drove everything price-wise down.

As for relative ease of swap, my brother, a diehard minitrucker and welder, converted a DX auto civic to a SI within a month worth of work, adding new performance part, and grafting new fenders. Reason: H&A made most of their cars like lego-blocks, just find the right parts to mixing and mashing.

As for the SR20 for the 240, motor supplies are already dwindling since 04 . . . soon, it will be cost inefficient to do one . . . ya, tons of rusty S13 in salavge yards and people's home.

3rd (see those beatup cyborg HBs in the US or Colt Summits) and 4th gen mirages = 1/2g G63T Eclipses or GVR4 and Evo 1-3.

5th gen Mirages = Evo 4 and above

I'm not sure of 1st and 2g gen mirages = they look like chevy chevette/sprint clones
