2003 Black OZ with paint chips all over the front of the hood, especially around the grill.

2003 Black OZ Lancer, 4500 Miles. Rear Bumper has paint coming off in chips about once a week. I know it can't be from washing the car.

 

2003 Silver OZ: Minor chipping along edges of side skirts.. Noticed when the car had 15 miles on it. Keeping an eye out for more.

Paint chips on side skirts under Driver side door and Passenger side door. The Warranty covered this problem. My car is in the shop now for the paint chip problem, hopefully I'll be able to pick it up today. I'll reply with the what, where, and why's after I get the car back.

I went to pick up my Lancer from Service Center on Apr 1 5PM. They had repainted the sideskirts. It looks like they removed, repainted, then reattached them. I noticed glue on the seam. I forgot to take a few [before pics] of the chips on the sideskirts, but I'll definitely get [after pics].

I told the Estimator and Service Manager about this message thread and a few others, of which I had printed out and was holding in my hands at the time. They said that they have had many paint chipping issues with the US Lancer, and have repaired a lot of them.

I then asked them what they would do if the paint were to ever fade. The Estimator I was working with was not sure. I then told them that I had noticed a spot on the top left side of the trunk. I then showed both the Estimator and the Service Manager the circular paint fade spot (see photo below posted by me on Apr 2, 2003 11:16 AM). The Service Manager said that this is definitely covered by the warranty. While we were looking at the car I said that since it had recently been raining that I was not able to see any other spots [chips / fades / problems]. They said: " We will take it inside dry it off and take a flashlight to the car looking for any other paint problems, and that the car should be ready in 3 days." The also agreed with me that the "US Lancer has major paint issues due to CHEAP PAINT"

2003 oz rally lancer black 680 miles bumber is starting to fade to a grey white color that almost looks like wax but the car is only two weeks old and has been washed once and only waxed if did so

This is the paint_fade_before_pic. The spot is on the top left drivers side of the Trunk about 12 inches to the right from the edge. The circular paint fade spot is about 3 inches in diamater.

 

that paint fade is hard to see, but i see it. dam my eye is killing

 

02 Yellow Lancer OZ. Paint chipping on side skirts, front bumper, off hood easiler, and pissing me off a lot. I talked to the dealer once and they said they couldn't do anything about it because I wanted a heavier clear coat to protect the paint because there isn't crap for one right from the company but they said they couldn't and that they had some slight problems in the past with bad clear coats and paint chipping off the car. What a bunch of crap!

 

02 White Lancer ES. Paint chip below gas door thing, and on the rim of driver's side front wheel well.

Yeah I was just washing my car with a power washer and when I wash spraying off the car the paint peeled right off the front corner of the stock ground effects on my OZ. I am so pissed off with the paint quality on the lancer and am going to the local dealership ASAP. Anyone else have this kind of problem or something similar?

 

are you supposed to wash ur car with a power washer?....i use that thing to get the caked mud off my quad....pretty powerful

 

I have a '03 OZ Phoenix Red, paint peeled off the rockers, got that fixed under warranty, the dealership plate on the front bumper ate the paint there, not covered by warranty, but I also have two dull circles on the drivers side of my wing, I didn't know that was under warranty also. I'll be taking it back...again.

 

02 Thunder Gray No problems other than Self inflicted or caused by old ladies with shopping carts
