SRS light on?

My srs light keeps turning on, and then off randomly. Does anybody have an idea what it could be, or what plugs to check and see if they are secured tightly? I heard from my brother (works at a chevy stealership) and he said that most of the cars with the srs light on is because of low voltage or something, and it only requires a reset. Could that be the problem? All help appreciated, thanks

No, you'll need either the factory scan tool or a very good aftermarket one like a Solus with the appropriate software to pull those codes.

My MODIS tool wont even scan SRS codes on either of my 06s. I have to use the MUT-III tool for them.

Funny that this is being mentioned because my SRS light stays on and doesn't go off at all. I'm assuming that I'll have to take it to the dealer or find someone with the proper scan tool to find out why?

Try looking at your car manual to see if it helps with the SRS.

I'll have to do that I guess. OR take it to the dealer and have them hook it to a machine

If you have an 05 or older you can use the MUT tool without the laptop. 06 and newer need the MUT-III with the laptop. Only way.

SRS stuff is covered by warranty for at least 80k miles or 8 years. It could be 10/100k. Either way its a long time and you're still most likely covered.

I guess next week imma take it. I've noticed also that after sometimes that the passenger seatbelt light goes on and after awhile goes off, that normal? I'm guessing it only stays on for a few minutes then typically goes off? Also, is there a sensor for the passenger air bag that deactivates it when someone isn't sitting in the seat?

you could always try the disconnect the battery and clear the code trick ... give it a while and see if it comes back...
