It is a spectacular design but don't forget what Satur is, a American made company founded in the early 90's to compite with Japonese agresive market and for offering a class of cars affordable to the average american car.

Nice on paper, I want to stand behind and see how well the market value of that car is going to hold down compare to the already superstrong Honda use value.

Other than that I think that that Saturn is a heck of a car and I am sure it will be sale for an affordable and competitive price.

That does seem to work against them. I guess they're trying to make it so that the car doesn't become 'old' in such a short time by introducing a new model every 6 months. It is arguable that they are doing that as to reduce the desire for the owner to sell the car relatively early. Downside I suppose is that buying an 04 is pretty much the same as buying an 01 providing milage is similar so price of the 04 would be relatively low since there is no real reason to buy a particularly late example.

If you don't know what a Opel GT is then you don't know jack. Cause Saturn Sky Redline is a Opel GT, and Opel GT pwns S2000.

Take the Saturn badges off and all of a sudden people give you more respect.

I agree with you.. i think it looks better mostly because of the choice of chrome wheels that they put on the saturn.

The wheels and all the silver plastic highlights (brake ducts, head rests, etc). Yuck.

Can't? It's not. It's a front heavy (60:40) car that is understeer biased from the factory, and needs a fair amount of suspension work to be balanced. Using the throttle to correct understeer is not the same as being balanced.
I'm not talking about 50/50 balanced. I'm talking about power / weight / handling / braking. The car is extremely fine tuned from the factory and in stock form nothing will compete in it's price range. It has come from the factory very BALANCED.

Stock for stock I might pick the S2k simply because the Sky has too much chrome. Performance wise I think the Sky will win out. I predict a huge aftermarket for it and plenty of factory support. Look how crazy Chevy has gotten with their Cobalt SS!

What's the point of handling just a hair better if the other car is so much faster that you're going to be overtaken right as you come out of the turn? The turbo Ecotec will own the S2k as soon as people start feeling like making them faster. You heard it here first.

What the SRT4 is to sedans, the Sky/Solstice is to roadsters. The SRT4 has gotten plenty of hate, and I'm starting to see a trend... Just because it's a "crappy" American product that's a better performance value.

but that's the thing you don't understand... is the dori dori worshippers believe in CREATING a place where only the s2k well balanced cars will rule. unfortunately no other form of motorsports backs this up.

you know what... i wanna buy an s2000 and i'm pissed off so i gotta ask this question because no one prohonda has challenged anything i've had to say.

WTF. why honda enthusiasts? why? why do you like honda? honda has one of the largest if not THE largest enthusiast following, it's only rivaled by american domestics which undoubtedly dwarf it in comparison. but that aside why are honda owners so ferverous?

honda is like mitsu without the *****.

let me qualify that statement. honda puts out the nsx. it smashes the posche, by the time 14 years rolls around porsche has come up with the gt3 which is a magnificent piece of engineering. and honda has peddled you the same table scraps for the past 14 years.

the integra... honda goes through LESS body style changes, LESS generation changes than ALMOST ALL OTHER CAR MANUFACTURERS, this is barring the ones that only come out with ONE car EVER like the dmc delorian. i think even lambo has more gens than honda... WTF. they save all this money on these cars yet they peddle you the same crap for all these years. why?

the s2000. this will be my last complaint and its the same as the above two. and it's only a matter of time before the s gets smashed by TIME, for goodness sake it gets smashed by TIME not competition. why? cuz you can't compete wtih someone who's not competing, who's twiddling their thumbs. how long do yo uthink it took them to design, oh i'm sorry, MODIFY the new nsx... i could come up wtih those stupid shfiter boots and wing geometries in a WEEK. WHAT WERE THEY DIONG FOR THE OTHER 51 weeks of the year???

i just don't understand. and i only want an s2k because there's enough of them out there that you can pool together enough people to make a community that has demand for mods. but it's only a matter of time before something comes a long and blows that away too.

Interesting point. I think part of it has to do with that they think they got it right the first time, and that they are trying to protect the resale value of their cars. The S2000 and the NSX were like gifts to themselves, masterpieces to show the world what they were capable of. As long as the NSX was winning in the JGTC, they kept it on the market as a symbol for that. And although the S2000 is getting long in tooth, there hasn't been anything that's come out (yet) that has bested it for what it does in that price range.

As far as the Integra has concerned (and the Prelude, which I think they put more money into redesigning) they had the sales in their hands long ago, but it got chipped away mainly by the Eclipse. Then they decided seemingly to turn their back on the tuner market. But they say a new RSX is coming, and the new Si is currently a big hit, so I'm sure we will see more competitive products from them
