Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX
Times infinity! Nobody is stupid enough to think a n00b can go out there and be fast. If you don't have the driver mod, don't bother. In the same token, its lame when an average driver in an econobox says he smoked a Viper when the Viper driver is clearly at his first event.

How many X owners (on these boards) never had an AWD car before or even raced it on a road course but brag about how well it handles?
"The X is made for handling not for quarter-mile.." "There are more things about the X than just straight-line.." "Your 8/9 will get eaten by the X's handling!!" "It pulls .99gs!!" "Check out the R&T article on the X's handling!!!"
We've all seen it here before...

You don't need to take this car on a road course to realize that its handling capabilities are far better than 99% of cars on the road.
Wouldn't that apply to people who have never owned an AWD car & then bought an Evo period.... why are you just saying this about the X?
I can't wait to have this car on track, but I need the mudflaps first or the side of my car will be called Pretty Primer instead of Octane Blue.
It's been shown to carry higher speeds through corners, pull more lateral g's, brake faster so thats probably the reason why people are making these comments.. these are all facts, not just internet myth. Take two regular drivers, I can almost guarantee they will be faster in the X than a VIII/IX. All reviews seem to confirm this. Take two pro's and the VII/IX very well may be a faster car due to its quicker acceleration. I don't get whats the big deal. A regular ol' joe will most likely be faster in a X than if he was in a VII/IX... whats so wrong with that?
There is no replacement for driver skill and experience. Without it, much slower cars will pass you. That said, without being a pro driver, we had no problem dispensing s2ks, rx8s, elises, exiges, 911s, 996s, 350z, etc with bone stock evo Xs at streets. Some of those were fast drivers, some not. The evo is a very capable car, and easier to drive fast than many. But without sill and experience, you will not be the fastest out there. Also, street experience doesnt count. You will learn more in one day at the track then years of back road driving

Just to toss in my $.39...from a little real world back to back, unfortunately not on a road course until they open here.
Last weekend it was warm and sunny here so I decided to do a little comparing of my own on some twisty roads. So I took my X through one of my favorite sets, then went home and got my VIII and took it through the same set with the same enthusiasm. The VIII's power comes on much more abruptly and carries all the way to 7000 (but I have cams in that car), but it doesn't have the lower RPM grunt that the X has. With the ASC turned off in the X, I was able to run 100% full throttle, ***** to walls, head slamming against the window through every turn. The same set in the VIII was an *** puckering experience as I had to fight understeer and lateral slide with turn entry and the gas pedal. The brakes are in no way equal, the roadholding is not equal, and there is no way in hell that the VIII could keep up through the same set of turns, and it certainly can't do it as smooth.
I have both cars (and love both cars) and my neighbor has the CT9 chassis as well, and we have done many comparisons over the past 5 weeks on braking, handling, acceleration and anything we can come up with when we get bored. All the haters can talk all the bullcrap they want about this car and how it will stack up stock for stock against the old chassis in ANY handling showdown....I'm sorry...the new car is so far superior in handling that it is almost humorous that it is even being discussed. There are things I love about the old chassis...the steering wheel feel, it feels light, and it flat out feels like more of a race car because of the extra noise, battlewagon ride, rattles, and abrupt power surge. Stock for stock, he handling and chassis behavior isn't in the same class....PERIOD.

You dont have to go to a road coarse to see that the Evo's handle well. Anybody who frequents mountain roads or well known curvy roads such as the "Dragon" Hwy 129 in NC, can testify to the cars excellent handling characteristics. The Evos make a bad driver look good, unless you are really really bad.
Whether it be an Evo 8, 9 or 10, they all will out handle 99% of the cars on the road today, whether they be RWD, AWD or FWD. It is just a damn good hanling car, PERIOD. BoostEZ seems to think that everyone whom disagrees with him is an Evo Newbie or an AWD newbie. If you dont know someone, you cant know there background so dont *** U ME anything.
You are right, the Evo X or 8,9 will not make you the fastest guy on the track, but they will make you look better than you really are due to there well engineered handling.
