how can this arguement start now. the car hasn't even been out that long and people are still trying to decide its fate. give it time.... i personally bought my IX for that rugged fun ride, that to me was an evolution and it always has until now. the X is a bad *** car but it just wasn't the one for me... i like it but i liked the older models more. and quite seriously it comes down to preference.

Some of those posts are funny. "its not an evo unless it has a 4g63." Maybe Mitsubishi should have just called the motor in the X a 4g63 and been done with it. I get the impression that that would have made these guys happy. The alternative is to make no changes to the engine and keep putting the same decade+ old one in car after car while the competition is continuously improving their own engines.

Say what you will about Hondas, but Honda is an engine company at heart. They may be afraid of turbos and the kind of power that goes into an Evo, but they know how to put a great NA engine together. Do you see them sitting on their butts when an engine works well? No, they make improvements every generation, the engines get new designations, and you never see any complaining like "It's not an Si unless it has a B16". Maybe I shouldn't trust that Mitsubishi has actually improved the engine as I could with a new Honda, but I haven't seen anything so far that would indicate otherwise.

When you're designing performance cars, you should be encouraged to improve and reinvent. Failure should rightfully be met with contempt, but I see no reason for opposing an engine change simply because it is an engine change.

So it seems. I urge people to take this thing and test it on a bend. You will not believe how much grip it has.

I think what people really need to understand is that Mitsu didn't make the evo grow up. They made the lancer grow up. Mitsu makes most of their money/sales on base lancers not evos. And other cars in that catagorey all offer good creature comforts and amenities. For mitsu to compete with the corolla, civic, etc...they had try and bring the car more upscale. It just so happens the evo gets everything the lancer gets. I believe mitsu made the best business decision they could have. No mistake there.

about the heritage, the X will not brake it, for sure. Might be the new generation drivers... Since we still lacking with the track numbers Evo was always be proven on pavement or dirt ,not on dyno or paper .

wow... just wow... I've said it before in a different thread, and I'll say it again. Mitsubishi didn't do anything new at all by completely changing the Evo this iteration. Again, look at the history of the Evo. Any given style/body has always lasted exactly three iterations. Get off it.. it's the way it is. As for the 4B11T for the love of god... wait for one to at least blow before you knock it like a retarded tuner with a laptop!!!! DAYUM!!!!

I read on a previous post that this thread needs to be closed because it has no good or new info...well I disagree...you get a bunch of flames about IX vs. X on General X thread topics...with this thread open and as a sticky...you can always say "I'm deleting your post...feel free to post inthe X Vs. All Evo Sticky."

Local Evo X here running 13.9's and low 14's at the track. He's not a great driver but you get the idea, compare with stock 13.4 times with the previous Evo's average run. A half a second is the world IMO. Unfortunatly 14's are the new 16's and a high13/low14 second car is SLOW by today's standards.

I think once the ECU gets cracked these X's are going to be monsters but till then they are going to get a bad name.

This is all very simple... Is the EVO X's engine an improvement over or equal to the old EVO engine 4g63..???

If the answer is no then that is unacceptable.

If the answer is yes than al this arguing is silly.
